The geomorphologic phenomena “Đavolja varoš” (Devil’s Town) has 202 stone formations created by erosion, between two and15 metres in height, topped by stone blocks weighing as much as 100 kg, and two springs of extremely acid water with high mineral content (even 1,000 times higher than ordinary drinking waters). The laboratory was opened at the beginning of October 2013 and it provides more workspace, which allows more patients to be treated. Thus, the waiting time for the analysis decreased by 50%. Besides the bio-chemical examinations, this Laboratory can also expand the services to micro-biological analysis. Since the old Laboratory had been placed at the loft of the building, the new building allows better access to health care to people with disabilities. According to the plan, the newly constructed Laboratory should perform around 115,000 analyses every year. The municipality of Kuršumlija has provided 43,960 Euros co-funding for this project.
