School District Dialogue
School History on Display September 20
In Celebration of Waupun's 175th Anniversary, Zac
Dickhut, a Senior at Waupun Area High School, has
put together a historical collection of memorabilia of
the Waupun Schools from the early 1800's to the
present. Waupun High School came into being when
one student enrolled for the general course in 1876.
The collection includes yearbooks from 1916 to the
present with the exception of 1919-1923 &1932. Zac
stands next to the 1926 50th Anniversary Milestone
year trophy won by the Waupun High School football
team. The letter sweater was worn by Argyle
Zimmerman, who played the right tackle that year.
When Waupun joined the Little Ten Conference in
football, they claimed the Conference Championship
the first two seasons. The collection includes trophies, jerseys, uniforms, photos, banners
and many other items from the Waupun Historical Society, the Schools, and from
private parties. The immense collection will be displayed on Sept. 20 in the Rock River
Intermediate School gym, and again on Oct. 10 during Waupun's Homecoming event.
