Hello, Buick Folks, they tell us summer is over, but it sure doesn’t feel like it and there is still a lot
to do with the Buicks, and all other outdoor stuff.
Please plan on attending the Michigan Buick Bash at the Sloan Museum, it’s a free day and we will
hosting on Saturday, September 12th from 10 AM to 3PM with a box lunch at 12 noon, must rsvp
by September 4 (this Friday) to be included for lunch. This is a fun day to socialize with the other
Michigan Buick Club Chapter members, trunk sales are welcome and tour the museum at your leisure, lunch will be $10 each and admission to the museum is free, we will have special parking
available, In addition, there is also a quilt display at 3 locations in Flint and at the Flint Public Library, go to www.geneseefun.com for more info.
The following weekend is the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race at Mid-Michigan Motorplex in
Stanton, Michigan and if you have never been to a drag race event this is the one to go to. It goes on Friday and Saturday, September 18th and 19th. This race is for 1955 to 1974 muscle cars built in United States and Canadian assembly plants. For more
info go to www,psmcdr.com
And it’s not too early to be thinking of nominations for club offices for 2016, Share your thoughts with Gil Mervis or Roger
Tyyska.
Go fast and safely in your Buick, see you at the museum.

The location for the club meeting was the Richfield Township Park behind the Richfield Township
Hall on M-15 near Coldwater Rd. Everyone enjoyed a pot-luck-dish-to-pass fried chicken dinner. Social hour started at 5:00 p.m. There were 41 members present and 3 youngster guests.
● Roberta Vasilow called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm and began by introducing two new members: Dan and Rose Graves. Roberta stated that Buicktown presently has 130 members.
● Dave Bloch briefly summarized the minutes of the last member’s meeting on July 22, 2015 at
UAW Region 1-D Building on Atherton Road, Flint. There were no corrections to the meeting minutes as published in the Crier newsletter, therefore, the minutes were approved as written.
● Paul Marchi, reported on the financial transactions and current money balances of Buicktown
Chapter. His report was accepted.
● Millie Lutz reported on the remaining 2015 club meetings as follows: September 23 – Sloan Museum (sign up for a $6.50 box lunch contact Millie), October 28 – Grand Blanc, Aubree’s Restaurant,

● Dan reported that the Sloan Museum Auto Show in June was a financial success, earning approximately $14,000 for the Museum, despite the near rain out on Saturday. Roberta added that a 1954

going to trailer the car back from New Mexico.
● Perry reported that no sympathy or get well cards were sent out in August.
● Roberta stated that the BttB was successful and the Buick Display had a 1.6% increase from the
previous year.
● Dave reported that the Water Street BttB was very successful. We had 110 Buick Show cars
(double the number last year) Photos of all the cars were taken in front of the Durant-Dort Office
building and the Sloan Museum 1904 Buick Replica car in the background. Greeters counted 773
visitors passing over the Flint River foot-bridge (but the actual number is closer to 1,000 due to very
busy activity). Dennis Manner gave an encore presentation after his first high performance engine
presentation was standing room only, Larry/Millie reported that 5 new Buicktown members were
signed up. The yellow volunteer T-shirts were a big hit. Dave Langdon stated that the Kevin Kirbitz
Durant Historical video can be seen upon special request on certain days – contact Peggy Lawrence

Water Street BttB 2015 Results and Commentary
August 26, 2015
Water Street BttB 2015 was a big success! Everything ran very smoothly including
the entry gate/ parking/security, car photographing, greeting pedestrian visitors, Buicktown Information Booth, bright yellow volunteer T-shirts, special presentations inside
the Durant-Dort Office Building, and the Sloan 1904 Buick Replica automobile on display. Even the weather was nice, warm, and sunny all day.
Participants brought approximately 110 Buick show cars and 101 “goodie bags”
were given out. This is double the number of Buicks at last year’s Water Street BttB
2014. Buick show cars were photographed in front of the Durant-Dort Office building.
All photos have been posted for viewing and downloading on the event website:
316waterstreet.org. A greeting tent was set-up at the Flint River foot-bridge offering
historical and other information to pedestrians. Volunteer greeters counted 773 visitors!
It’s estimated that the number is probably closer to 1,000 visitors considering it was so
busy not everyone was counted. Buicktown Information Booth volunteers registered
five new club members. Bright yellow T-shirts with the Durant-Dort Office Building on
the front and a large Buicktown Chapter emblem on the back were a big hit with volunteers who were easy to identify. Because the high performance engine presentation in
the Durant-Dort Office Building was packed to standing room only, a second presentation was made. Many visitors showed interest in the Sloan 1904 Buick Replica Automobile parked just outside the building.
Other attractions included a wireless sound system with a feed from Saginaw Street
BttB, a Harlow Curtis owned 1938 Buick convertible, and a variety of food and drinks
available at the AmVets.
You really had to be there to experience all the fun and enjoyment, as well as viewing and learning Buick history as presented by the National Landmark Durant-Dort Office Building and the many fine Buick automobiles that Water Street BttB 2015 offered.
The hard work of the Water Street BttB 2015 Committee and all 55 volunteers was
well worthwhile. Congratulations to all! A Water Street BttB 2016 Committee will be
forming soon to build on the success of this year. We hope to see all the old volunteers
back and also see some new faces. All are welcome to join the fun!
