Warning: There is a danger of explosion if the hard drive is incorrectly replaced or
replaced with the wrong type of hard drive. Replace only with the same or equivalent type
recommended by the equipment manufacturer. Dispose of used hard drive according to
manufacturer's instructions.
Caution: The power-supply cord is used as the main disconnect device. Ensure that the
socket outlet is located or installed near the equipment and is easily accessible.
To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not disassemble this product. Take the DVR to a
qualified service person when service or repair work is required. Opening or removing
covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other risks. Incorrect reassembly can
cause electric shock when this product is subsequently used.

Introduction
Congratulations on purchasing the Digital Video Recorder. This advanced recorder
accepts composite video signals and converts them to the Digital Video standard
internally and does all the processing digitally. This allows true real time video for camera
input.
High-Resolution DVR triumph over Conventional VCRs
This digital video recorder for the professional who needs up to 24-hour real-time digital
recording for archiving purposes. This DVR adopts state-of-the-art Wavelet algorithms to
digitally compress video at high resolution from multiplexors in real time. It can record at
speeds up to 30fps (frame per second) with NTSC or PAL formats (25fps) and records
and replays events instantly - no waiting for tapes to engage or rewind. It installs and
operates like a VCR, so it's easy to set up and use. The DVR has many advantages over
VHS tape, larger disk size, highly efficient wavelet compression, and superior clarity and
detail of recorded images makes this DVR stand out from its competitors.

Understanding the Digital Video Recorder
This Digital Video Recorders provide a digital recorder to replace traditional time-lapse
VCRs. Digital video recording allows continuous recording on a hard disk, eliminating the
need to replace or rewind videotapes.

operate Digital Video Recorders. Step-by-step procedures and sample menus guide you

DVR can be installed in as little as 3 steps, and being plug-and-play, cameras can be
recorded within minutes.
STEP 1. Connect Cameras
In the Rear: Composite video input with BNC style connector, also marked
Video In.

Connect the video output marked Video Out in rear side to the monitor.

STEP 3. Connect Power
Once the DVR is in its final position and all external devices have been
fitted and powered, connect the power cord on the rear of the unit and apply the
power.
The power-up procedure may take up to 4 seconds before this unit can be
used.
Monitor and camera are sold separately.

The rear panel of the DVR is equipped with an Alarm Port (Terminal Block style
connectors). Connect the MUX or other devices to the Alarm Port, then connect all wire to
the DVR.

Appendix 5 - Installing a hard disk in a mobile rack
A removable drive bay allows you to take your existing 3.5-inch Hard Drive and a new
one into a cartridge frame which mounted in DVR. If you wish to install a new hard disk in
the mobile rack, please do so following the instructions below:

Lift up the handle by 90 degrees
When you attach the interface cable to a drive, be
sure to match the colored stripe on the cable to pin 1
of the drive interface connector. For the location of
pin 1 on the drive's interface connector.
Pull the mobile rack out as shown in
the figure as above
NOTICE: When you connect an interface cable, do
not reverse the interface cable (do not place the
colored stripe away from pin 1 of the connector).
Reversing the cable prevents the drive from operating
and could damage the controller, the drive, or both.
NOTE: Make sure if a " jumper'' for HHD is applied, if is set to
"MASTER" at the back of HDD. The HDD will not work on DVR
if jumper is set to "Slave"

NOTE: The factory default password is "0000". If user had changed the
password and forget the change he or she had made, please follow the
below procedure:
1. Enter the main menu, check the "System Clock" (in 24 hour) on the upper-right
of the screen.
2. Check the system clock's last four digit number.
3. Add the four digit number to "2158".
4. For example, if the clock shows the current time is 14:21, then you should add
1421 to 2158.
4. The password will be the sum of the two number. In this case, the password is
3579.

high quality mode will shorter recording duration vise versa, low compression will
have higher image quality.

This section provides instructions for installing and using the Remote Viewer program
that is included with the DVR unit. The single image backup software allows the following
functions from a remote PC via an RS232 cord connection:
1. Taking snapshots of live video and saving them as files.
2. Printing the image from the printer.
Installing the Remote Viewer Program
Before proceeding with installation of the Remote Viewer program, ensure that the PC
meets the following hardware requirements:

Install the backup software from CD. (Backup/backup.exe)
Serial Port
1. Close all applications currently running on the PC.
2. Place the CD in the CD-ROM drive.
3. Choose RUN from the Windows Start menu, entering the program to be executed:
x:\backup software\setup.exe (where x is the drive letter of the CD-ROM)
Parallel Port
(Print Port)
4. Follow the instructions for installation as they appear on-screen.
5. After installation is complete, the Remote Viewer program can be found via the
Windows Start/ Programs menu

Before backup the video, you should stop recording and pause the video. Please choose
which image you want to transfer to PC.
(1) Link to the PC and DVR with RS-232 cable.
(2) Please execute the backup software in your PC.
(3) Stop recording first.
(4) Enter the Playback mode (By pressing "button

(5) Find which video clip you need, and then press "button

for backup

" to copy this image to PC.
Q: How come I get a sheer black screen when I open the Backup
software?
A: Just move the mouse inside the black square. Click on the right
button of the mouse. Function selection window will pop up as above
graphic.

This gray cells in the Value row of above table indicate the correct positions for each byte
of data in the command string.
Place the hexadecimal value of the desired ASCII character into the command string.
Enter a two digital value for the Year, Month, Day, Hour, and Minute into the command
string. Each digit is a separate byte. Use the last two digits of the year for the year value
(For Example, 2002 is entered as "02" ). Time is always designed in Military Time.
