CAMP KAPPE
Camp Kappe has changed the date that STM's 5th grade class will be attending. Please make a note of the
new dates - January 26 - 29, 2016.
PARENT/TEACHER/STUDENT CONFERENCES
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be Thursday, September 24 from 3:45 - 6:30 p.m. and Friday, September
25, from 7:45 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Please note that there will be NO REGULAR CLASSES or BEFORE/AFTER
SCHOOL CARE on Friday, September 25. Parents are invited to come and visit with their child’s teacher on
a drop-in basis. Please limit conferences to 7-10 minutes in order to allow time for every parent to meet
with the faculty. If you feel that you need more time with a particular teacher, please schedule an
appointment for a day other than September 24th and 25th. Jr. High students are asked to attend the
conference with their parents. Room numbers will be available at the sign in table outside the school
office. Please note that Mrs. Abrameit will not be available for conferences. To schedule another time
please email her at sabrameit@stmorenews.com.
LOST AND FOUND
Please label EVERY item of your child’s uniform, PE uniform, backpack and lunch container. Labeled items
can be returned to the items’ owner. Items without names are donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society
or the used uniform sale.
BIBLES LOOKING FOR A NICE HOME
Mrs. Kana has some "gently used" bibles looking for a good home. If you would like one, email Mrs. Kana
at ekana@stmorenews.com and provide your child's name and homeroom.
STM YEARBOOK
Reservations for ad space in the 2015 - 2016 yearbook are due in the school office by September 25th. Ad
space is limited so reservations are held on a first come first served basis. Ad copy will be due in
November. Reservation form is available in the Family Handbook - Forms section on the school website.
GIRL SCOUT RECRUITMENT
It's Girl Scout Recruitment time again! STM has always had a strong girl scout community and has one
troop in every grade. If your daughter is interested in joining one of these existing troops, please contact
Jeanne Chucle at drchucle@live.com. It is never too late to become a member. You do not have to have
been a daisy to be a brownie, or have been a brownie to be a junior, etc. Any girl in kindergarten through
12th grade can become a girl scout, and more importantly, adults can also become girl scouts, too. We
need good parent involvement for a troop to thrive, which is why STM is so strong in scouting. We have a
great group of families!
There are also a lot of Catholic patches and medals that the girls can earn. For more information, please
see the flyer attached to this memo or contact, Jeanne Chucle-Contreras, by email at drchucle@live.com
or call or text me at 713-417-6181.
MEET THE STM DEVOTED STAFF
Iris Espinosa is the 7th and 8th Grade Social Studies teacher and Student Council Sponsor at STM.
She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts from Texas State University and has been teaching
for three years. Ms. Espinosa is the 7th of 8 children in her family. She loves traveling the world,
Broadway musicals, and Shakespeare in the Park. Ms. Espinosa says “I love teaching at STM
because it is like my second family. It is amazing to see students thrive both educationally and
spiritually. I am blessed to work with so many talented teachers. I am a product of Catholic
education and I look back on my years at Catholic school with great fondness. It is my hope that
our students may one day share similar feelings about their years at St. Thomas More.”
A GENTLE REMINDER FROM THE CLINIC
Please note that when students bring birthday treats to share at school we ask that they be dropped off in
the office in the morning, labeled with the students name and homeroom. Students may not carry their
treats with them during the school day, and may only distribute them at the time and location determined
by their teacher.
Please keep in mind that any treat or snack that is provided must be nut/nut-product free in accordance
with our school policy. We appreciate all your efforts to keep our students healthy and safe.
