ITU-T Y.1564 Ethernet ServiceActivation Methodology TestSetupandExecution This document is intend as a job aid to assist field technicians in the setup and successful execution of the ITU‐T Y.1564 Ethernet Service Activation Methodology test suite utilizing the EXFO Brand FTB‐1 platform equipped with the FTB‐880 or FTB‐860 module. EXFO FTB-1/FTB-880 Test Setup VanTek Consulting - ver 2.2 - kvw It is recommended that this document be read in its entirety prior to completing the first test set up. This document covers both Single Ended (Loopback) and Dual Test Set modes for Y.1564 Ethernet test suite and branches at Step 8 depending on whether Single Test Set or Dual Test Set will be utilized. This document focuses on the 10 Gig Optical interface however all steps and procedures convey to lower rate optical and electrical Ethernet interfaces. Step 1 - Upon initial boot up you should be presented with the main Mini Toolbox screen. This ID is used by the Local test set to identify the remote test set. Step 9 - Select Local under the mode drop down box if this unit is to be used as the local unit. If the unit is to be used as the remote unit, select remote under the mode drop down box. This will randomly transmit the seven standard frame sizes during the performance test Page 14 of 18 VanTek Consulting (480) 359‐7004 http://www.VanTekConsulting.net EXFO FTB-1/FTB-880 Test Setup VanTek Consulting - ver 2.2 - kvw Step 28 - In the CIR (Committed Information Rate) boxes input the configured speed if testing the full bandwidth input the full line rate in both the local-to-remote and the remote-to-local boxes. Leave the EIR (Excess Information Rate) unchecked and blank when testing full line rates Step 29 - Overshoot will always be the sum total of CIR and EIR. When testing full line rates overshoot will always match the line rate. Leave all SLA parameters i.e. Jitter, frame loss & round-trip latency at default values Page 15 of 18 VanTek Consulting (480) 359‐7004 http://www.VanTekConsulting.net EXFO FTB-1/FTB-880 Test Setup VanTek Consulting - ver 2.2 - kvw Step 30 - If VLAN’s are required for testing, select the VLAN In the lower set of tabs and input the correct VLAN identification numbers in the appropriate boxes Note: this step is not required for single segment testing Step 31 -Select the ramp from the top set of tabs and verify default setup which should be 50%, 75%, 90%, CIR and Overshoot. Provided the test configuration is set up correctly you should get the indication as noted in Step 33 Step 33 - The first step is the Service Configuration test this verifies the service is setup correctly. Upon completion of the Service Configuration test the Service Performance test will automatically start and run for 10 minutes or the allotted time as set under the global tab Page 17 of 18 VanTek Consulting (480) 359‐7004 http://www.VanTekConsulting.net EXFO FTB-1/FTB-880 Test Setup VanTek Consulting - ver 2.2 - kvw Step 34 - Once the test is complete there will be a pop-up window asking if you wish to generate a report for the test that was just completed. If you wish to generate report click the Yes button Step 35 - In the pop-up window for the report fill in the form with the appropriate information reflecting the conditions for which the test was run. After this is been properly filled in click the save report button. The report will be saved in PDF or Text format in a directory on the test set or to a flash drive if one is plugged in.
