THE WATERFRONT COMMENCES DEMOLITION, UNVEILS 615 WATERFRONT DRIVE
AND RIVER WALK RENDERING, AND ANNOUNCES PROJECT EXPANSION
Allentown, PA - July 24th, 2014 - Jaindl Properties and Dunn Twiggar Company, together The
Waterfront Development Company, commenced demolition today on pre-existing buildings
located in Phase I of their $300 million project along the western banks of the Lehigh River in
Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Demolition started with “Shop 2”, a former Lehigh Structural Steel Building, near the southern
end of the site. Demolition on the remaining buildings in Phase I is expected to take
approximately three months.
In addition to the demolition, The Waterfront partners unveiled renderings of 615 Waterfront
Drive and the site’s signature River Walk. 615 Waterfront Drive, the eight story building slated
to be the first constructed at The Waterfront, will be comprised of 150,000 square feet of Class
A office and 20,000 square feet of street level retail and restaurants. The River Walk will
extend along the half-mile of the project’s direct river frontage and will offer walking and
running paths, programmable amphitheaters, and two floating docks.
The Waterfront proudly announced that Edward Jackowski will be joining their team as the
Director of Construction. Mr. Jackowski has had recent experiences with large-scale projects,
like the new PPL Center in Allentown’s center city, and will be overseeing construction of the
infrastructure and buildings at The Waterfront.
Lastly The Waterfront Development Company announced today that they have expanded their
site to include the adjacent Lehigh Valley Dairy Building on Furnace Street in Allentown. The
new addition is not part of Allentown’s Neighborhood Improvement District, but will grow The
Waterfront’s total land by approximately 7%. The addition can be used for parking or marketdriven future growth.
“Today marks the first step toward the redevelopment of The Waterfront, and the entire
transformation of Allentown Riverfront District.”
