Volume 2 • Issue 4 • November - December 2014 Shootin’ For a Miracle CHRISTUS Health Foundation and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals held our 4th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot on Saturday, October 4th at 1 in One Hundred Gun Club in Lumberton, Texas. The event was sponsored by Valero Port Arthur Refinery. Four person teams took to the course and shot their way to miracles for thousands of local kids. From novices to champion shooters, the clay shoot provided a fun way to practice their skills while helping others. Congratulations to those who placed in the shoot: Dr. John Field’s Team - 1st Place; The 1 in 100 Gun Club Team– 1st Place 2nd Division; Valero 2 – 1st Place 3rd Division. Individual winners were: Jared Gobal - Youth Champion; Terri Kacy – Lady’s Champion; and Richard Malone – Men’s Champion. We cannot forget to thank all that sponsored this event, donated in-kind contributions, helped promote the event, and volunteered for the event. Volunteers from CHRISTUS, Valero & Kohl’s all gave of their time and talent to make the event a success. The event, sponsored by Valero Port Arthur Refinery, was a huge success for local kids! Participants included businesses and individuals from both Southeast Texas and Louisiana. Sponsor and player involvement in the tournament has grown each year. We appreciate everyone who came out to support the kids! Sabria is an eleven year old Lumberton student and has been a life-long Children’s Miracle Network child. She recently underwent her 27th surgery. For a contribution of $5.00, staff at participating companies wore their jeans to work. Every dollar raised counts: proceeds from Miracle Jeans Day funds treatment and state of the art medical facilities for local children. And who wouldn’t want to wear their jeans to work once in a while? If your company would like to participate in Miracle Jean’s Day in 2015, or if you would like to hold your own company or school MJD day this year, please contact Jade Rayburn at 409.899.7598. Community Update Community Update RAVE TO SAVE ROCKS DOWNTOWN BEAUMONT! The Wilton P. Hebert Health and Wellness Center (HWC) presented the 5th annual Zumba party “Rave to Save”. Participants burned calories while dancing the day away during a three-hour dance party on Saturday, Sept. 13 at The Gig on Crockett Street. 50% of participant fees were donated to CHRISTUS Health Foundation Southeast Texas to support the fight against breast cancer. Rave to Save offered something for everyone. Many of the dances are multi-level, allowing dancers of any ability to participate. This energetic, heart pumping event featured the HWC Zumba Crew and other area Zumba instructors. Additionally, iRule Dance Companies performed multiple pieces featuring dancers from age 5 to 17. Thanks to all the dancers and instructors who came out to support the Foundation! The day that we have been waiting for is almost here! Giving Tuesday is December 2nd. We hope that those in the hospital made your Christmas list. The holidays can be a lonely time for those that are sick or injured. Please help us help them!
