The FBISD Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program provides intensive college and career support for our firstgeneration college students. Approximately 1,500 students are currently enrolled in the AVID elective classes, and from the 2014-15 AVID seniors, 92.6% reported acceptance to a four-year college and 96.9% have plans to attend a college or university in the fall. Class of 2015 seniors completed nearly 20,000 active college applications, or approximately four applications per student. Working and learning cohesively alongside families who speak more than 90 languages and dialects, the schools work together with students, their families and the community to address each student’s unique needs. District’s tax rate is among lowest in the Houston area and has remained at its current level for the past five years. FBISD’s overall tax rate of $1.34 per $100 valuation, which includes a debt service tax rate of 30 cents combined with the District’s $1.04 M&O tax rate, will remain at its current level for 2015-2016. 2015 Texas Education Agency State Accountability Ratings Fort Bend ISD received a 2015 District accountability rating of Met Standard, and 67 of 70 campuses received a Met Standard rating based on overall student achievement, progress, performance of identified student groups and post-secondary readiness. Under the state’s accountability system based on the STAAR test, campuses and districts receive either Met Standard or Improvement Required ratings. FBISD campuses also earned a total of 96 distinctions – 38 at the high school level, 28 at the middle school level, and 30 at the elementary school level – for high student performance. Dr. Dupre was appointed as the Superintendent of Schools in April of 2013. With more than 20 years of experience in education, Dupre has a proven track record of increasing graduation rates and improving educational outcomes for students. Dupre is a Certified Public Accountant. His unique background and real-world experience, consisting of educational administration and financial management, have benefited Fort Bend ISD during times of growth, both currently and in his previous role as Associate Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer, a position he held for five years.
