Guanajuato City
While wandering through the magical streets of this captivating city Guanajuato can be discovered through its history
and traditional legends. Declared a World Heritage Site by
UNESCO, it is surrounded by impressive architecture that is
complemented by a joyful and festive atmosphere which lasts
the entire year. The city is full of tunnels, alleys, squares, churches, vice-regal mansions and surrounded by a large number
of mines that amaze visitors. Tourists can experience some
of the most important cultural and artistic events in México,
such as the Cervantino International Festival, and enjoy the
growing number of restaurants, bars and nightclubs that
combine Mexican traditions with a contemporary vibe.
The city of Guanajuato received the recognition as “The
most reliable touristic destination”, an award given by the
magazine Selecciones from the Reader´s Digest as a result
from a survey applied to more than 5,200 of their readers.

San Miguel de Allende
When walking through the colonial squares and streets visitors
can attend different cultural events while enjoying a relaxed
and bohemian atmosphere. It is an ideal place for those who
like to enjoy good classical music concerts or immerse themselves in art galleries, such as the internationally famous La Aurora. New art exhibitions, courses and workshops can be enjoyed
almost every weekend. There are also tourist attractions on
the outskirts of the city, such as the Sanctuary of Atotonilco,
a New World church notable for its XVIII century murals and
architectural details, for which it has been named, along with
San Miguel Allende, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The prestigious magazine in touristic matters, Condé Nast
Traveler, recognized San Miguel the Allende with the first prize
under the category “The Top 25 cities in the world”.

León
León has become one of the most important metropolises in
México, enjoying an excellent standard of living while conserving its traditional charm. Cultural diversity is a priority in Leon
and it has invested in spectacular facilities for culture, leisure
and learning, the most impressive of which is the Guanajuato
León Guanajuato
Cultural Forum. This is a complex of magnificent buildings, the
most outstanding of which are: an art and history museum, an
auditorium and concert hall, a sculpture garden and a theater.
The most avant-garde city in the state, it offers visitors events
for all tastes, along with first class exhibition, meeting and
business facilities.
Magical Towns
Dolores Hidalgo
Salvatierra
Dolores Hidalgo. As well as being the Birthplace of Mexican
Independence and the eternal home of Jose Alfredo Jimenez,
this is where the priest Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla introduced the pottery industry to the indigenous population, and
today this remains the main activity in the city.
Mineral de Pozos, in San Luis de la Paz. It has a rich and prosperous past, since it was one of the most important mining
towns in México during the XVII and XVIII centuries.
Salvatierra was an important religious and cultural center in
the vice-regal period, a city used during the evangelism of the
Huatzindeo Valley. It was the first city in Guanajuato.
Jalpa de Cánovas, in Purísimas del Rincón. This is an example
of colonial grandeur and architectural beauty that amazes
visitors with its natural landscapes and historical monuments.
Here you can find the Jalpa Hacienda, home to 70,000 hectares of fertile land.

Guanajuato
Yuriria. Surrounded by spectacular landscapes, this town
offers a mixture of indigenous customs and colonial architecture, with churches and convents built during the evangelism
of Guanajuato. It is renowned for its crater lake and the ExCovent of San Pablo.
Tequila Circuit: In the southeast area of Guanajuato state,
protected by the Tequila designation of origin, there are six
important tequila distilleries in the fields surrounding Penjamo. The route runs through the Majestic blue agave plantations and offers visitors the chance to discover the ancient
haciendas and tequila producing towns.
Tourist routes and tours

preserved ceremonial centers and archaeological zones in the
country. There are more than 1,200 identified archaeological
sites, and the state opens four of them to the public: Plazuelas, in Pénjamo; Peralta, in Abasolo; Cañada de laVirgen, in
San Miguel de Allende and El Cóporo, in Ocampo.
Wine Circuit: This offers visitors a wine tasting experience in
the region surrounding San Miguel Allende and Dolores Hidalgo: a tour through vineyards to learn about the wine making
process, visit spectacular cellars and taste the different wines
produced by expert wine makers from Guanajuato.
León
Gastronomy
“Guanajuato ¡Si Sabe!”, was born with the intention of creating a network of
gastronomic routes, the purpose of which are to showcase and give added value
to the places and people who make the gastronomic map in the State unique.
This is the first step in establishing a series of themed events geared towards
tourism, with the aim of synchronizing the efforts of the service and culinary
industries and positioning the state’s unique flavors in visitors’ memories and
palates. Additionally, Guanajuato city was recently named “Ibero-American
Capital of Gastronomical Culture 2015”, the highest distinction awarded to top
gastronomic destinations, and an unbeatable opportunity to share the enormous
variety of dishes offered by the state. www.guanajuatosisabe.com
