May 2016 - Wisconsin Early Mustangers
“A Few to Preserve the Best” PRESERVATION - RESTORATION - ENJOYMENT - DEDICATION - EDUCATION April 29, 2016 Hello Mustangers! The Ice Breaker Brunch Run is coming up at the Fox & Hounds in Hubertus on May 1st. Please be on time at the two starting points for the cruise. We meet at the WaterStone Bank on 27th street at 8:00am, departing at 8:30am sharp. Then we regroup out at the McDonalds at I94 & highway 83 and leave that point at 9:30am for the Fox & Hounds. With our All Ford Car Show coming up quickly, we are asking the club members to get out and about for contributions to our car show raffle. The show is approaching faster than one thinks. Stop in at your favorite car shop, parts store, barber, grocery store, ice cream joint, etc and pleasantly request donations. It’s always good to wear your club clothes when asking. This is to show pride in our great organization. Also, be sure to wear your club clothes when shopping at these locations. Owners and business people take notice and appreciate your business as mush as we appreciate their offerings. We can also use anyone’s assistance in moving cars out of the Ewald’s lot on Saturday May 21st starting around 3:30pm. If you can, we would appreciate your help returning the cars back to the lot on Monday morning May 23rd at 7:00am. Mike Johnson is planning two events for our club. One is taking in some drag racing fun at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove and another is a charity event called Rod’s for a Reason which is to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This event takes place in Kenosha County at Petrifying Springs Park on July 10th. Watch our newsletters and the club web site for further details as they become available. Just remember, there is NO CLUB MEETING in May. Our next scheduled meeting is on June 27th. That’s all for now! He will be joining the club on the Brunch Run and showing his car at our car show. Be sure to stop by and get to know him. • Treasure Report: Jack Winter read the treasure’s report and was approved. • Secretaries Report: No report was given in Teresa’s absence. Karen Furst is filling in. • Drawing: Doris Netzler and Willie were the luck recipients of a 2014 Car Show t-Shirt. • • Old Business Spring Jefferson: Jack Winter went Friday and Saturday and dropped off WEM car show flyers. He said the weather was perfect and the show was busy. He noted the number of swap spaces has increased but there didn’t seem to be as many cars in the car corral. Jim Krueger mentioned that on Saturday and Sunday there is a car show at the meet. By showing your car you get free admission plus a great parking space. • • New Business Remember: No May Meeting. June 27th is the next monthly club meeting. • Brunch Run: Roger Nicholas will lead the group leaving from WaterStone Bank and heading to the Delafield McDonalds. They will be leaving promptly at 8:30am. Arriving at the Delafield McDonalds (Hwy 83 & I-94) at about 8:45. The whole group leaves McDonalds at 9:30am and cruises to Fox and Hound. • Car Show: 52 cars pre-registered as of the meeting. Most car show job slots are filled; contact Bob Tice if you are able to help fill any remaining slots. Help is needed moving cars off the Ewald’s lot at 3:30pm on Saturday, May 21 and moving them back at 7:00 on Monday, May 23. Glenn Furst has received confirmation that the Ford Performance Display Trailer will be at our show. Eric Ewald told Glenn and Tom Miller a new GT350 Mustang and a Shelby Pick-up will be on display and will be flanking the trailer. Make sure to stop by the trailer and enter to win a new 2017 Mustang GT. • • Additions: Rods for a Reason Car and Motorcycle Show information was shared by Mike Johnson. The show is July 10th at Petrifying Springs Park, Area #1 in Kenosha, WI. There is a $10 donation with money raised going to Make-A-Wish of Wisconsin. See flier in this newsletter for more information. • Great Lakes Dragaway (GLD) in Hwy. KR and Hwy 45, Union Grove, WI is offering our group a chance to watch the drag races and drive our cars down the drag strip, plus, we’d have “promo” parking. Mike Johnson is volunteering to organize this outing. We will discuss this again during the June 27th meeting. If members show an interest he will set the date with GLD. You will then need to RSVP as GLD will need a firm count. Mike will be working at the car show if you want to talk to him. • Dick’s Garage Reunion will be held on Saturday, May 28th , beginning at 10:00am. Bring your racer, custom, rod, classic, or antique car. Jim Krueger shared the inserted flier. • Please keep the families of Scott Moen, and Dick Strack in your thoughts. • The meeting adjourned with members heading to Oscar’s for friendship, food, and custard.
