Celebrating & Honoring Our 15th hurch nniversary THEME: “MOVING FORWARD” Omni Ministries A.O.H Church of God 1700 East Rosecrans Avenue Compton CA 90221 310.631.1557 Rev. Beverly Smith, Chairperson Elder Doretha Cooper, Sr. Pastor Expressions from our Sr. Pastor First and foremost, I must honor my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for without Him none of this would even be possible. We are truly grateful that God chose to use an ordinary person such as myself to lead his wonderful people, for the mantle could have been passed to so many others “but God”. I’m so elated concerning this year’s Church Celebration because it will serve as the first under our pastoral ship. It’s important that we keep in our minds that we are no longer doing business as usual but we are all about KINGDOM. Our theme for this entire year has been “Moving Forward” and we have definitely shifted in God and things are completely different from what it had been. Our purpose is to be spiritually infectious, contagious and relevant in this generation and as disciples of Jesus Christ we are to have love for the brethren. In order for those things to happen the Holy Ghost is a must. God has led us to equip the leaders of this ministry with the tools needed to be an effective piece in this season and to maintain moral integrity and build character, working with purpose. The Word of God must be taught precisely and with clarity so that every person will be able to understand and apply it to their lives and live. Our aim, with only God’s complete help, is to make sure that we continue to carry out the vision that the Lord has given this ministry through our Pastor Emeritus Rebecca Roberts. I receive this mantle with great honor, only stepping in to my own shoes because the shoes of Emeritus Roberts are too big for me. Looking forward to the New Year 2015 with great anticipation of what our God will do. God bless you real good is my prayer and I love you with the love of the Lord. History of Omni A.O.H Church of God Omni began its ministry as a Home Mission on March 2, 1992, in the home of Elder Roberts. It was impressed upon her through much prayer and fasting that it was time to launch out into the deep. She along with her daughters and son in law began eagerly looking for a place to worship. After looking at many buildings, the Lord led her to 1315 N. Bullis Road here in Compton with four of her children, ten grandchildren, one of her son in laws and one brother. Needless to say, upon Omni’s opening, the Lord had already blessed us with a deacon, secretary, treasurer, missionaries and a choir. We could not have asked for a better Armor Bearer for our pastor then Minister Doretha Cooper. We also had a group of young people that love the Lord and this church. In the first year we were established, the Lord added seven souls to the ministry. We initiated the teaching of our organization’s doctrine, with the emphasis on being faithful and dedicated to God first and the ministry according to Hebrews 10:25. The scripture in Habakkuk 2:2-3 it talks about writing the vision. The vision that God has given our then pastor, Elder Roberts was (1) to open a daycare center for low in-come families, (2) establish an in-home care for the elderly, and (3) open a thrift store. The church has the Omni Community Development Center, a nonprofit organization, where a tutoring program is in place. We are visiting the elderly at the Lynwood Healthcare Center every 3rd Sunday, a food drive program every Friday afternoon, and the Evangelism Outreach every Thursday evening. As of Pentecost 2014, Elder Cooper is now pastor of Omni Ministries, and Elder Roberts is now pastor emeritus. We have added one more licensed deacon, Deacon Lawrence Jones, and the church is rapidly growing. God is good. We are celebrating 15 years in ministry. The number 1 means unity and supremacy, and the oneness of the Godhead, number 5 symbolizes God’s grace, goodness and favor toward humans, and number 15 in the Bible pictures rest, which comes after deliverance. We are determined to be totally committed to God first. Please continue to pray for us as we launch into our 16th year as “Difference Makers”!
