DUSIT MAKES ITS MARK ON CHINA WITH
DUSITD2 FUDU BINHU HOTEL CHANGZHOU

from Changzhou Benniu Airport and Railway Station, 15 minutes
from downtown Wujin and conveniently accessible to and from

Dusit Fudu Hotels and Resorts, the joint venture hotel management
company between Thailand-based Dusit International and Chinabased Changzhou Qiao Yu Group, announced the opening of
dusitD2 Fudu Binhu Hotel Changzhou in Jiangsu Province, China
on 23 July, 2013.
The soft opening of dusitD2 Fudu Binhu Hotel Changzhou marks
Dusit Fudu Hotels and Resorts’ first project in China, as well as
the first Dusit-branded hotel to open in the People’s Republic.
With views over West Taihu Lake and conveniently located in the
Wujin Hi-Tech Industrial Zone, the hotel will meet the increasing
demand for high-end accommodation for business and leisure
travellers to the vibrant and prosperous city.
The hotel, housed in an impressive gem-like structure, offers

SIGN ON SINGAPORE GOLF RESORT
Laguna Hospitality and Dusit International announced the
signing of a joint venture agreement with the intention of
bringing a Dusit Thani urban resort to Singapore.
Plans for the new deluxe Dusit Thani golf resort hotel include
some 200 guestrooms, four dining and entertainment outlets,
meetings & events spaces and recreational facilities including
swimming pools, gym and a spa.
Located within the grounds of the 36-hole Laguna National
Golf and Country Club, it will be one of the first resorts with
direct access to a golf club in Singapore. Only five minutes from
Changi International Airport and approximately 20 minutes from
the Central Business District, its proximity to Singapore Expo
and Changi Business Park positions the hotel as a city resort.
It is expected to attract a balance of corporate/MICE and leisure travellers as well as current patrons of the Laguna National
membership base.
The Laguna National Golf and Country Club is operated by Laguna Hospitality, a subsidiary of Group Exklusiv Pte. Ltd., owned
by Singaporean Mr Peter Kwee. Dusit International, led by Mr Chanin Donavanik, is a Bangkok-based Asian hospitality group
with a growing portfolio of international hotels.
The project, slated to open at the end of 2015, is contingent upon relevant government approvals and licensing.

DUSIT’S CHINA EXPANSION UNDERWAY WITH
DUSIT FUDU HOTELS AND RESORTS
On July 26 2013, Thailand-based hospitality
group Dusit International and China-based real
estate developer Changzhou Qiao Yu Group
announced the establishment of Dusit Fudu
Hotels and Resorts, the joint venture hotel
management company that will spearhead
Dusit International’s continued expansion in
China. Its major shareholders include Dusit
International, Changzhou Qiao Yu Group and
noted hospitality veteran Mr Giovanni Angelini,
former CEO of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
“Dusit Fudu Hotels and Resorts will develop
the Dusit Thani, dusitD2, Dusit Devarana
and Dusit Princess brands throughout China,”
says Mr Chen Li Bin, Chairman of Dusit Fudu
Hotels and Resorts. “We look forward to a
very successful future with this newly formed
management company.”
The company expects to operate at least 30
properties in China within the next three
years, focussing on mid-tier to deluxe projects
in Changzhou, Qingdao, Qingyuan, Lingshui,
Shenyang, Kunming, Chengdu, Chongqing,
Shanghai, Xiamen, Fuzhou, Suzhou and
Shaoxing.
The first of these hotels, dusitD2 Fudu Binhu
Hotel Changzhou, hosted its soft opening on
23 July 2013. Nicknamed ‘the diamond’ due
to its impressive gem-like structure, the hotel
is conveniently located in the Wujin Hi-Tech
Industrial Zone of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province
and offers guests floor-to-ceiling views over the
adjacent West Taihu Lake.

The Ortigas Foundation recently held a photo exhibit at the mezzanine level of Dusit Thani Manila in
commemoration of the 50th year of the State Visit of His Majesty King Bhumibol Abdulyadej and Queen Sirikit
of the Kingdom of Thailand.
Guests, including diplomats and government officials, enjoyed viewing the photos of the royal couple during
their five-day visit to the country in 1963.
The arrival of their Majesties on the auspicious day of July 9th set the tone for the two countries to sustain a deep

KHON DANCE AT DUSIT THANI HUA HIN
Khon is a Thai classical dance-drama involving music, song,
dance and acrobatics that tells stories with performers wearing
elaborate character masks and costumes, also called Khon.
The story told is of epic proportions and has evolved based
on the Indian Ramayana, a parable of good triumphing over
evil. Rama is a king and paragon of virtue who challenges and
overcomes the Demon King Toskan. Certain excerpts have
become an iconic genre of Thai classical art.
The performance of Khon at Dusit Thani Hua Hin is unique
because for the first time Khon was performed on water, with
the celestial chariots replaced with elaborately decorated
celestial boats floating across the lagoon on clouds of dry ice
as the white monkey god led his warriors to do battle on the shimmering waters of the Lake of Secrets. The classical choreography
was maintained and the setting provided a celestial ambience that tastefully complemented the performance.
