ADAM CAROLLA
Comedian
Adam Carolla is one of the most versatile men in Hollywood.
After cutbacks forced Adam to quit his syndicated self-titled Adam Carolla Show broadcast
on CBS radio, Adam started The Adam Carolla Podcast with only a computer and a
microphone from his home office in February 2009. A year later, the podcast was named
iTunes #1 Podcast Of 2009, receives more than five million downloads a month, and has been
featured in Fast Company Magazine, Entrepreneur, the NY Times, and the LA Times. His
immediate success prompted Adam to launch an entire online network, ACE Broadcasting,
in February 2010, which produces many of iTunes’ top podcast programming.
Adam became a New York Time’s best-selling author when his book, In 50 Years We’ll All Be
Chicks stayed on the charts for ten weeks. The audio version went straight to the #1 position
on iTunes and remains there today. His e-book, Rich Man Poor Man is available on iTunes.
Adam’s Not Taco Bell Material, will be released in June 2012 from Random House Publishing.
Before running his own online empire, Adam hosted the Adam Carolla Show broadcast, which aired on CBS radio stations in Los
Angeles, Portland and Las Vegas. The four-hour weekday morning program was syndicated in several major markets, including
Seattle, Sacramento and Fresno, among others. Carolla wrote, co-produced and starred in the independent boxing feature film The
Hammer. The Hammer made its world premiere at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Earlier this year Carolla was seen
as a contestant on ABC’s hit reality series Dancing with the Stars. Additionally, Carolla has hosted Comedy Central’s Too Late with
Adam Carolla and starred in TLC’s The Adam Carolla Project, which chronicled the renovation and subsequent sale of his boyhood
home. Adam also appeared in this year’s current season of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice.
Following brief stints as a skilled carpenter and boxing trainer, he began his career in radio after answering an ad seeking a boxing
instructor to train then radio personality Jimmy Kimmel of KROQ’s KEVIN AND BEAN SHOW in Los Angeles. He eventually joined
the show’s repertoire as Mr. Birchum, a wood shop teacher. Carolla’s success on KROQ led to a hosting job on the nationally
syndicated radio program Loveline, with Dr. Drew Pinsky. MTV developed a television version of the show, which was co-hosted
by Carolla and Pinsky for five seasons (1996-2000). The duo also authored The Dr. Drew and Adam Book: A Survival Guide to Life
and Love.
Adam also appeared in two hit Comedy Central shows, The Man Show (1999-2003) and Crank Yankers (2002-present). A native of
Southern California, Carolla currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Lynette, and their two twins.
KATE FLANNERY
Comedian
Kate Flannery portrays Dunder Mifflin’s alcoholic, accident prone, Meredith
Palmer on NBC’s The Office. Flannery has recently appeared as a guest on
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,
Chelsea Lately and Carson Daly.
Her television appearances include
performing at this year’s 2011 Emmy Awards as part of the Emmytones,
Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, Last Comic Standing, The
Bernie Mac Show, Boomtown, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and she was the
voice of “Lucy” in a Robert Smigel cartoon on Saturday Night Live.
Last year Kate returned to the New York stage and starred in Nora Ephron’s
Love, Loss and What I Wore and at Joe’s Pub with her cult comedy lounge
act, THE LAMPSHADES, which she continues to perform regularly in
Hollywood (www.thelampshades.com). Kate was seen this past December
co-starring in the Hallmark Channel’s The Christmas Pageant opposite Melissa Gilbert and is also the voice of Wendy in
all the Wendy’s Hamburgers commercials.
Flannery played Neely O’Hara in the Off Broadway hit Valley of the Dolls at the Circle in the Square and LA’s Coast
Playhouse. A former member of Second City’s National Tour Co., she is an original member of Chicago’s Annoyance
Theater where she co created over 15 shows, including the Miss Vagina Pageant and The Real Live Brady Bunch, which
played over 30 cities and at the Kennedy Center.
Kate graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where her family owned a bar.

BETH DEAN
Honoree
Beth Dean is a long-time champion for people impacted by seizures. At Lundbeck,
she played a key role in bringing forward the first FDA-approved treatment for
Infantile Spasms, a devastating seizure disorder common to those with tuberous
sclerosis complex. Lundbeck acquired this treatment after its development was
sidetracked for more than a decade, and Dean was part of a dedicated team that
overcame numerous obstacles to ultimately win FDA approval.
Beyond her role supporting Lundbeck’s therapies available to people in the
U.S. with severe seizure disorders, Dean personifies Lundbeck’s commitment
to supporting the epilepsy community. Dean and her colleagues at Lundbeck
are familiar faces at more than 100 awareness and advocacy events across the country each year and are constant
supporters of the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance’s awareness and fund-raising efforts.
Dean received her bachelor’s degree in political science and environmental studies at Cornell College, then earned
a master’s degree in public affairs and environmental studies at Indiana University. In 2000, she received another
master’s degree in business administration at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
THE FIGHT AGAINST TUBEROUS
SCLEROSIS COMPLEX
Your presence tonight makes a direct difference in the lives of thousands
affected by TSC.
Over the past 38 years, we’ve experienced many
successes in our quest to find a cure for TSC. But our story is not one of
pity as thousands and thousands of people with TSC – and their families
– live each day facing unimaginable circumstances. Yet they carry on,
with courage and dignity and inexhaustible determination.
Not coincidentally, the possibility of a cure is closer than ever. Your financial support helps the TS Alliance
provide resources and services so individuals with TSC and their families can meet the daily challenges caused
by the devastating disorder. Moreover, every dollar spent finding cures and treatments for TSC can bring
about quantum leaps in the cures for autism, epilepsy and cancer – diseases that touch most everyone
all of us know and love. This means your sponsorship will create real, tangible hope.
TSC causes tumors to form in vital organs such as the brain, eyes, heart, kidneys, skin, liver and lungs. These
tumors can lead to uncontrollable seizures, autism, heart disease, cognitive disabilities, facial disfigurement
and kidney failure. In fact, TSC is the number one known genetic cause of both epilepsy and autism.
Living with TSC has been compared to walking blindfolded through a
minefield, because you never know when another symptom will appear or how
serious it will be. Anyone who has seen the destructive effects of TSC knows how
important it is to find a cure.
THE TUBEROUS SCLEROSIS ALLIANCE
The Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (TS Alliance) is the only
national organization dedicated to finding a cure for tuberous
sclerosis complex (TSC) while improving the lives of those
affected.
Four mothers from Southern California with a dream formed
the TS Alliance to provide fellowship, generate awareness,
pursue knowledge and provide hope to those who shared
the unfortunate common bond of tuberous sclerosis
complex (TSC). These goals remain the driving force of the
organization today.
Thirty-eight years later, the TS Alliance is the only organization able to rally the financial resources, the
research, the partnerships, and the sheer will of TSC-affected families and individuals to break the back
of this “linchpin” disease. You being here tonight makes the possibility of finding a cure closer than ever,
because your support provides more crucial funding.
