THREE ROUTES TO VALDEZ FLY• Ravn Alaska offers 35-minute shuttle flights from Anchorage to Valdez. • A VHSG representative will meet you at the Valdez airport for transport to the Tsaina Lodge. (VHSG will also shuttle you to the Valdez airport at the end of your ski adventure.) • Private charter flights are also available to and from Valdez. Contact VHSG for more information. DRIVE • Rent a car at the Anchorage Airport (all major rental car companies available). • Take the Glenn and Richardson highways for the stunning five-hour drive around the north side of the Chugach Mountains. FERRY • From mid- to late-April, board the Alaska State ferry 40 miles south of Anchorage for a four-hour sailing across Prince William Sound. But no matter how you get here, you need to be in Valdez by 6 p.m. or at the Tsaina Lodge by 6:30 p.m. on the first day of your itinerary so you can attend our evening orientation with drinks and appetizers at the Tsaina Bar. www.valdezheliskiguides.com FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT’S THE BEST TIME OF THE SEASON TO VISIT? There truly isn’t a bad time to join us during our short spring season. March has slightly colder temperatures, but the powder is dry and deep. The days get longer in April, the temperatures are more moderate, and the powder skiing continues to be fantastic. WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER ISN’T COOPERATING? HOW MANY RUNS SHOULD I EXPECT TO SKI IN A DAY? A day with VHSG averages six to eight runs at 3,000 to 5,000 vertical feet per run. Expect to ski 100,000-120,000 vertical feet during your ski week. Yes, we ski a lot! Note, though, that the number of runs depends on group ability, snow conditions, and weather. There have been days when we’ve been able to ski as many as twelve runs. Mmmm! WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY’S AGENDA? Weather dependent, a normal day starts with a breakfast buffet served from 7 to 8:30am. The ski day starts at the heli-pad at 9am. Lunch is enjoyed in the mountains. We typically finish skiing between 3 and 6pm.
