OUR LADY OF LOURDES
MASS SCHEDULE
Sunday: 9:30 a.m.
BAPTISMS
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole
Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit,
and the door which gives access to the other
sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed
from sin and reborn as sons of God; we
become members of Christ, are incorporated
into the Church and made sharers in her
mission: Since Baptism is not a private celebration,
but an incorporation in the large community
of the Church, Baptisms are ordinarily
celebrated on the fourth Sunday
of each Month after the 9:30 a.m. and
11:00 a.m. Masses.
WEDDINGS
Couples intending Marriage should call
the Rectory at least six months in
advance of the planned date.
RCIA
Please call the Rectory if you know of
someone who is interested in learning
about the Catholic Faith.

Sixth Sunday of Easter
May God bless you for your
goodness to his Church for the week of
April 24, 2016
MAY IS THE MONTH OF MARY: Traditionally, the
month of May is dedicated to our Blessed Mother. I
encourage you especially during this month to pray the
rosary daily. I also invite you to pray the rosary with
others every Wednesday at BLS at 7:00pm. Remember
what our former Holy Father Pope St. John Paul II
taught: “To Jesus through Mary.”
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: Please keep in your
prayers all the children (and their families) who will be
making their first holy Communion this Sunday, May
1st: Kasyn Berkey, Brooke Border, Anthony Cesta,
Ethan Chase Dyrdek, Aubrey Duggan, Ireland
Marshall, Emma Mitchell, Katherine Radcliff,
Aubrey Ratti, Chloe Wilson, Zachary Wright. This is
the first time they will be receiving Jesus in the
Eucharist and is a very special time for them. We also
congratulate Brady Longo and Chad Gardner who
made their first Communions last month. May the Lord
and his Blessed Mother watch over and protect all of our
first Communicants and ask that they be with them
throughout their lives.
A FIRST COMMUNION BLESSING: (This blessing
can be used by parents after their child has received
his/her first Communion.):
Good and loving God, source of all that is good, at the
Last Supper of your Son, Jesus, gave the sacrament of
his body and blood to his disciples and to the whole
church. May the Eucharist our child has received for the
first time today, keep him/her close to Jesus, and unite us
in love for all of God’s children. May the presence of
Christ fill the hearts of all who receive him on this first
Communion day. May the sacrifice of Christ teach our
son/daughter how to love others with all his/her heart
and may the sacrament he/she has received help him/her
live as a worthy child of God. Amen
“COME & SEE”: Tomorrow, Monday, May 2, at
6:30pm in upper Sargus Hall, our Men’s Club will sponsor
an evening to “Come and See.” It will be a night where

anyone can ask questions pertaining to the Catholic faith.
Our staff will be on hand to answer them. There can be
questions as easy as “Why do I bless myself with holy
water when I come into Church?” to “What is the Church’s
teaching on birth control?” This night will be open to
everyone whether they belong to our parishes or not. Invite
your friends and relatives, especially those who have been
away from the church for awhile because of certain issues.
Let’s make this a night of learning. You ask the questions.
We will answer as best as we can. I hope that many, many
of you make this a priority in your lives and “Come and
See!”
We welcome all those who were baptized into our
church at Easter and after Easter: Jackson Hall, Brady
Longo, Skylar Longo, James Miser, Vanesha Elder,
Jaxson Damron, Arthur Sutton and Maxwell Sutton.
Please continue to pray for them and their families.
REST IN PEACE: Please remember in
your prayers the kind repose of the soul of
Georgiann Thomas Milewsky, sister of
Carol Blackburn. May her soul and the
souls of all the faithful departed through the
mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

Our beloved Barnabas and Paul have dedicated
their lives to the name of the Lord.
(pertaining to today’s first reading: Acts of the Apostles 15:1-2, 22-29)
No one doubts that parents make all the difference in the lives of their children. In a similar way, vital
communities begin with good leaders. The right teacher can transform the potential in a classroom into
reality. A responsible boss will create teams of cooperative, inspired, and well-placed employees.
When parishes have a pastoral staff faithful to their own spiritual development as well as to the
Christian ideals of service and compassion, Church flourishes. When local, state, and national
governments work together to promote the common good of their citizens, happy, healthy, and
productive communities result. The Church leadership in Jerusalem understood these things when they
chose to support Barnabas and Paul on the local scene. They were right leaders at the right time.
(Alice Camille)
How many leaders do you rely on, and who might be relying on you?
PRAYER FOR MERCY: Lord, help me to be as merciful to those who offend me as you are
with me when I offend you.
