The Volkshochschule Frankfurt am Main (VHS) is the biggest provider of courses for adults in the Rhein-Main area. As a municipal college, partially subsidised by the City of Frankfurt, we provide courses in many subject areas such as creative skills, health, sport, languages, computing, business and social skills, leisure and self-development. While many courses are held in German, we also offer a wide range of courses and events in English (VHS speaks English). Whatever your age, if you want to get that dream job, secure a place at university, or just want to do something for pleasure, then it’s time to take a closer look at our Volkshochschule programme. Why not learn a new skill or take up a new interest and at the same time meet new people? Our courses run during the day, in the evenings and at weekends. We continually enrol students of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds on our courses which are held at centres throughout Frankfurt. With over 3.000 courses from Accountancy to Zen to pick from there’s bound to be something for just about everyone. The courses we offer are as varied as the people that live in Frankfurt. We are also your trusted partner for German naturalisation since we not only carry out the necessary language training and tests, but are also a test centre for the German naturalisation test for which we can prepare you in our courses if required. In our courses you will speak, listen to, read and write German. Right from the very start German is the common language in your class where people of all nationalities and mother tongues come together. It is very important that participants in a course have a similar language level so before the first course registration we assess everyone’s language level in an assessment test and interview. Learning German at the VHS not only leads to success – which of course also depends on you – but is interesting and fun. Your teachers are native speakers or near native speakers. They are qualified teachers and attend regular training sessions. They are interested in people from different cultures and support them in their learning.
