EJC Camp opening makes CVM News
Those of you who watched CVM TV news on Sunday August 16 would have seen a news item on the
opening of Camp Phillipsfield during the Newswatch hour. However, for those who missed it, here’s

IAD Vice President Visits Camp Phillipsfield on First Sabbath
Pastor Leon B. Wellington, Vice President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in
Inter-America Division (IAD) was thrilled to be part of history when he joined more
than three hundred campers and officers on the first Sabbath of the first summer camp
to be held at East Jamaica Conference’s Camp Phillipsfield in St. Thomas. Click here

Industrial Stove Donated to Assist Feeding at Good Samaritan Inn
The ministry of Jesus Christ to the poor was enhanced in East Jamaica Conference
(EJC) when Emmanuel Ministries from Florida, presented an industrial stove to
the Conference to assist with the preparation of meals for the poor and needy in
Kingston & St. Andrew. The stove will be installed in the kitchen used by the
Community Services department at the Conference, to prepare meals served at the
Good Samaritan Inn (GSI). Click here for more.

The Seaforth SDA’s Communication Department continues to do a marvelous job with their coverage
of Camp Phillipsfield in St. Thomas. They have released two news videos on camp life. Click on the

Notice from the Secretariat
1. A special invitation is being extended to the church populace to attend the annual constituency
meeting which will be held at Camp Phillipsfield Sunday August 30, 2015 at 10 a.m.
Churches are being asked to communicate with the Secretariat the names of the delegates
representing the various churches.
2. The Church Clerk Association (CCA) of EJC invites all Church Clerks and Assistants to a
Seminar on Sunday, August 30, 2015 in the EJC Boardroom from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m. Topics to cover include:
- Elements of Effective Public Speaking, Understanding Audience Needs & Speech Drill and
Speech writing

Notice from JAMU
Jamaica Union, under the theme: Reaching Forward with Christ, will be launching its 100 Days of
Prayer Initiative, Sabbath August 22, 2015 and ending December 2, 2015 in preparation for the
Jamaica Union Conference Session to be held December 2015. During this period each member is to
choose a prayer partner, praying each day, claiming Matthew 18:19.
Please launch it in your respective churches and ensure that the members in your pastoral district
participate in this event.
Notices from the Family Life, Women & Children’s Ministries Department
1. To God be the glory all our ASI IAD Missionaries that went to the Dominican Republic are
now back home safely. A thanksgiving service will be held for them on Sabbath, August 29,
at 4 p.m. in the East Jamaica Conference Boardroom.
2. The Men’s Ministries Department of North Street will be hosting its annual retreat October
23-25, 2015. Other churches are invited to join with them. Please contact the North Street
Director to make arrangements.

Dear All,
I am forever grateful for all who contributed to the realization of Summer Camp 2015: “Build to
Last.” With the inspirational messages from our chaplain, Pastor Derek Bignall, the sharing of what is
on the hearts of our youth, participation in Phillipsfield Enhancement Project (PEP), mingled with
their creativity, we have a good platform on which we will continue to build for eternity. The end of
camp is the beginning of the major construction to secure our identity as Seventh-day Adventists.

Notice from the Sabbath School, Personal Min. & Comm. Serv. Dept.
1. We are inviting all Shelter Managers, Disaster Coordinators & Community Services Leaders
together with Risk Management Leaders from our churches, to an extraordinary disaster
preparation and emergency management forum on Sunday, August 23 at 12:30 in the EJC chapel.
Community Services leaders who will be attending this meeting who are interested in acquiring a
food handlers permit, please be prepared to pay of sum of $1,000.
2. The next practice session for the Senior Citizens Choir will be Tuesday, August 25 at 4:30 p.m. at
the Half-way Tree SDA Church. We are still open to receiving new members.
3. Senior Citizens, Grandparents and friends, you are invited to our annual Convention to be held in
honour of Senior Citizens and Grandparents, September 19, 2015, at the Hagley Park SDA
Church, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Special guest speaker - Pastor Noel Fraser, past Union president.

2. The Publishing Department in collaboration with the Personal, Health, Children, and Youth
Departments along with all Seventh-day Adventist with a burning desire for the coming of

SABBATH OCTOBER 17, 2015.

The Corporate Area Chapter of the East Jamaica Conference Elders Association invites all Elders,
Leaders and Pastors to the next bi-monthly Elders Association General Meeting on Sunday
September 27, 2015 in the EJC boardroom, commencing at 9:30 am.
Notice from the Health and Stewardship Department
1. The Health Department of EJC will be facilitating another First Aid and CPR Training at EJC
on Sundays, September 6 & 13. Cost $5,500.00. Certification is internationally recognized.
Health Ministries personnel, Nurses, Pastors, Elders & all other interested persons are invited.
Registration Forms are available online.
2. A Seminar will be held for Stewardship and Wills & Trust Services Directors (Zones 1-3) on
August 23, 2015, at 9:15am – 2pm Venue: Half Way Tree SDA Church for district Pastors,
Elders, Stewardship and Wills & Trust Services Directors and their assistants & EJC
Boardroom for Treasurers and Auditors. Please:
a) Bring a report/update on the CCP in your church (and for the Pastors -district). Each church
is expected to be represented by the director and or his/her assistant(s).
b) Come with your questions and resourceful thinking.
Lunch will be provided.

Condolences
The EJC family would like to express its deepest condolences to Pastor Paul Bailey and family
following the loss of his Aunt, Whilelmene Belanfantie, on Monday. Pastor Bailey serves the August
Town circuit of churches. A thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday September 6, 2015 at 1pm
at the Palms SDA church in St. Catherine.

1. The Washington Gardens SDA Church presents its "Family Relational Healing Series,
August 16 to 30, 2015. Also, be a part of the FREE Relational Health Clinic on Sunday
August 22.
2. The 4th Annual Good Samaritan Inn 5k Health Run/Walk will be held Sunday August 30,
2015.
3. The Andrews SDA church and Passion of Praise present “Come see a man”, a play about
forgiveness at the VH Percy Centre August 29 & 30, 2015.
4. The Half Way Tree SDA church will be having a Health Fair on Sunday August 23, 2015.
Health screening, school medical etc. will be done.
