SOLOMON
KING
OF
Solomon Gabriel, known as “Solomon” has been a
musician, vocalist and songwriter for the past twenty
(20) years. Born in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad
and Tobago, this multi-faceted musician produces
nearly everything from calypso, rock, reggae and an
alternative assortment of world beat fusions. His style
is a fusion between rock and reggae with a Caribbean
flavor. The lyrical content of his music is usually
described as “intellectually thought provoking”, always
with a very serious message. Solomon played the pub
circuits of Trinidad and Tobago and recorded his first
album “Full Blown Full Grown” as an independent
artiste in 2000.
His first performance outside of Trinidad and Tobago
was in 2000 at the Caribbean Music Exposition in
Ocho Rios, Jamaica where he shared the stage with
Morgan Heritage and The Marley Brothers of Jamaica.
He then produced his second album in 2002 “No
Endorsement Required” and in 2003, Solomon went on
to perform at “Flavours of The World” and “Connecticut
Carnival Festival in Hartford,” Connecticut, USA.
For the next few years Solomon embarked on
promoting his music with a series of concerts in all
public spaces throughout Trinidad.

He then went on to produce two more albums,”State

albums to date.

Festival, Heritage Park, Pigeon Point Tobago sharing
the stage with Erykah Badu and Chaka Khan.
In 2012 he performed at the Trinidad and Tobago
Cultural Village, Tricycle Theater, London, England,
for the Olympics 2012.
In 2013 he performed at “Reggae on The Bay” again
sharing the stage with Beres Hammond, Taurus Riley
and Coco Tea.
Solomon has only recently been booked for a full
length performance entitled Songs of Solomon at

DISCOGRAPHIES
“My music must not be only song and dance. It must
never be bump and grind. It must be much, much more
than that. It must awake the dead and kill the living,
thats those who are living but are dead. My music must
stir, must unearth the revolutionary spirits, to the point
of stubborn unacceptance of reason. Unreasonable
is what brings about change, while reason is caught
reasoning”

REVIEWS
A Great Roots Rock Reggae CD
Chris & the RadioIndy.com Review Team
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/solomonsongs3
“State Of Our Affairs” is a great roots rock
reggae album from Trinidad and Tobago’s own
Solomon. Though his vocal performance is
true to the roots reggae tradition popularized
by Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley, Solomon’s
musicianship expands beyond reggae genre
and into the pop, rock, and world realms. No
matter the creative choice, the arrangements
are solid and centered around excellent guitar
work. Solomon is renowned for his lyrical
expressiveness and content that toes the line,
as he sings about faith and Rastafarianism, race
relations, women, and the Caribbean.
“State Of Our Affairs” is well-produced and
sounds clean and professional.
Congratulations
on GrIndie Award
RadioIndy.com
The opener, “Am I of God” is a great roots rock
reggae number with a great arrangement and
lyrics about faith and religion. “Some Want It
All” has a great bass line that fuels the track, an
accompanying piano and guitar arrangement,
and profound lyrics that offer the Native
Caribbean’s perspective on Caribbean tourism.
Solomon is a promising artist for the future of
reggae, as well as of reggae/rock fusion, who
offers outstanding, thought-provoking lyrics
and great, diverse accompaniments. Fans of
roots reggae and reggae/rock fusion should
definitely give Solomon a listen.
RadioIndy is proud to present Solomon a GrIndie Award for their CD
"State Of Our Affairs." A GrIndie Award is RadioIndy's stamp of approval
that this CD is an excellent quality CD. Please join us in congratulating
this artist on this accomplishment.
