LINCOLN CENTRE FITNESS CLUB HEALTH FAIR NORTH TEXAS TOLLTAG AUTHORITY MOBILE UNIT LBJ EXPRESS UPDATE AUTUMN AT THE DALLAS ARBORETUM Some major bridge demolition and reconstruction is about to take place along I-635. There are plans to begin partial or full demolition and reconstruction of the following bridges this fall: September 17 - November 23 Montfort Road Bridge Late September demolition Rosser Road Bridge Early October demolition Marsh Lane Bridge Mid-October demolition Other than temporary closures, the Montfort and Marsh bridges will remain open with reduced capacity throughout the fall while portions of the bridge are demolished and rebuilt. The LBJ Infrastructure Group (LBJIG) recently hosted a public meeting to announce proposed changes to the LBJ Express project. The announced change is that the managed lanes that were planned to go underneath in the original design, will now be taken over the top of the tollway. This means that they will still be at the same level as the current lanes now. There will be six managed lanes below the existing ground level on LBJ from Josey Lane to Welch Road that will come back up to the surface level for a quarter of a mile at the intersection of LBJ and Dallas North Tollway. This means that from Montfort to Hillcrest, LBJ will go back to being a six-lane open tunnel. It was explained that the reason for taking the lanes above ground for a short distance is because drainage issues were a concern. • There is no other Pumpkin Village in the nation, and the Pumpkin House is an absolute show-stopper! You’ll never stop believing in magic this fall when Cinderella’s Pumpkin Village, complete with her magical carriage, comes to life at the Dallas Arboretum. • The floral displays of the Arboretum are magnificent. If you think beautiful autumn color is only in the East, you will be amazed by the colors here in North Texas! • The Nancy Rutchik Red Maple Rill, a new area nestled alongside the concert lawn opens this fall. The most impressive feature is a fabulous collection of over 80 varieties of 200 signature Japanese Maples planted up and down a new stream connecting the concert lawn to the Magnolia Allee. An especially large weeping Japanese maple nearly 100 years in age will be anchoring the center of the garden area named for Mrs. Rutchik. • The Everette DeGolyer Mansion has being redecorated by Emily Summers and Associates. Each room is a return to the elegance of Dallas entertaining in the 1950s.
