Each of us can look back on our time in our chapter and remember great times and great friendships and realize the things we learned and took away from our experience. Too often we can also look back and realize we didn’t have the type of support from our organization that other fraternities had. We didn’t have the scholarship programs, or conferences, or staff to come and help us operate more efficiently. If our chapter was in trouble or facing closure, generally, we were on our own. That DOES NOT work in today’s world. We cannot compete effectively without the resources to support our chapters. If we truly want to re-open closed chapters and grow, then that’s going to take resources. If we truly want to have a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of undergraduate members, then we need programs and scholarships to back that up. The VISION of the future of KDR is one of a strong, well funded, organization with industry leading programs that characterize our fraternity as a true leader among fraternal organizations. We have to recognize our peer fraternities are not sitting idly by while we try to improve. They are making their own best efforts to grow and succeed. After 104 years it’s time for all of us, collectively, to look at our history, imagine our future, and join together, 17,000 strong, and position our fraternity to be a leader among fraternal organizations. Join the more the 550 brothers who’ve already made a commitment to support KDR as it transitions into the future and make your own commitment today. Top 10 CRP Chapters by Total Pledged “Now almost half a century later, a KDR brother is still my best friend, principles of tolerance and leadership learned in the House still guide me at work, traditions learned about the university still attract me back, and those old songs and jokes still make me laugh out loud. Now help other guys through the Centennial Campaign to enrich their next fifty years? You bet!” -Bill Butz ‘65 Nu Chapter Indiana University $3,000 ($50/month) Top 10 CRP Chapters by Number of Donors Where does the money go? You can see a brief video filmed live on the web at: www.kdrfoundation.org. “The wilderness institute was the most physically fatiguing and emotionally challenging experience of my life. With the challenge came great reward, and I was able to learn so much about my fraternity, my brothers, and found out things I never knew about myself.” -Kurt Karcher ‘11 Eta Alpha Chapter Robert Morris University Wilderness Institute Participant “‘Culture is four days deep.’ We often cite this assertion during the Wilderness Institute. By leaving our culture, its expectations, its pressures, its problems, and its influence for an extended time, the men of the Wilderness Institute are granted the space, time, and peace necessary to work out the bigger picture - for themselves and their communities.” -Matt Leiphart ‘92 Iota Chapter, Bucknell University Innernature Guide $5,000 ($84/month) Williams Leadership Academy and Regional Leadership Training Opportunities T he Fraternity improved the quality of speakers and programs for the Williams Leadership Academy in the past few years. The Regional Conclave program has expanded and improved. A new regional volunteer program utilizing what have been named as Praetorian Prefects (regional volunteers) is being implemented on a national scale. Finally, a greater emphasis on alumni programming and regional alumni associations has begun with the goal of improving networking among alumni as well as developing a support network for both new and existing chapters. “Being a member of Kappa Delta Rho has made me the man I am today. By donating to the CRP, I feel as though I have done my part to ensure that the future generations of KDR will have the same opportunities that I did.” -Josh Allison ‘11 Epsilon Chapter, Franklin University $1,000 ($16/month starting after graduation) New Member Achievement Scholarships T wo years ago the Fraternity introduced the New Member Academic Achievement Scholarship. Every new member at ANY chapter who attains a 3.0 or higher during their pledge semester is eligible to apply for and receive a $100 scholarship. While the scholarship is not large, it represents a good portion of the cost of joining the fraternity. This helps in recruitment and retention. This directly impacts EVERY chapter, including YOURS! T his is OUR CENTENNIAL and the campus climate is ripe for expansion and restoring chapters that have been closed over the years. To take advantage of the opportunity, develop adequate resources to support new and existing chapters as well as support our undergraduate students in their experience takes each of us making some effort to partner for the future and participate in the Centennial Campaign with our own five-year pledge of support to the campaign. Now is the time to make your pledge! Please fill out the enclosed pledge form and join your brothers on the Centennial Wall of Honor who have already made a commitment to the future of Kappa Delta Rho. “Even though my chapter has been closed for many years I still owe a great deal to my experiences in KDR. My time in the chapter was very significant to my personal overall development and I am sure it was an important contributing factor to the successes that I have enjoyed after my undergraduate experience. There are not many ways that I can “repay” KDR for my experiences but “paying forward” to help other brothers, even if they are not in Kappa Chapter, seems to me like the ‘right thing to do’.” -Alan Lord ‘72 Kappa Chapter The Ohio State University $1,000 ($16/month) Your Name Here! A donation of $2500 over five years secures your name in this section. You can pay $500/year or $125/quarter. Is your name missing from the list? If so, simply complete the Centennial Recognition Pledge Form enclosed with this brochure and mail it to the Kappa Delta Rho Foundation. We will add your name to the list of brothers who have shown their support to this important step towards securing our future and ensuring that we have the resources to provide for the next generation of KDR members. Your donation will memorialize your name on our Centennial Wall of Honor.
