The South Addition will enable MFG South Dakota to manufacture additional wind blade sizes and will add approximately 75 new jobs to Aberdeen’s labor force. Construction on the South Addition began in November 2015 and is estimated to be completed by June 1, 2016. The building is owned by the Aberdeen Development Corporation (ADC), and leased and operated by MFG. MFG began wind blade manufacturing in Aberdeen, South Dakota in 2008. The operation originally represented a $40 million investment and the creation of up to 600 new jobs in the community. The addition to the MFG facility in Aberdeen will significantly increase the manufacturing capacity allowing the company to meet the strong demands for wind turbines in the U.S. “The Aberdeen Development Corporation is pleased to support MFG by assisting with their building expansion,” said Michael Bockorny, CEO of the ADC. “As a top employer in our community, this 15,000 square foot addition represents an exciting time of growth for MFG and a renewed commitment to Aberdeen and the region. The new facility will be the tenth soybean processing plant for the Company and its first in South Dakota. “Our selection of the Aberdeen, South Dakota site for a new AGP soybean processing facility is the result of extensive analysis and negotiation,” said Keith Spackler, Chief Executive Officer. “Aberdeen and the surrounding region have the strategic attributes necessary for a successful soybean processing plant - a plentiful soybean supply, stable workforce, solid infrastructure, and transportation capabilities. We look forward to a great future there.” “AGP has a large market presence in the area through its member-owner cooperatives in South Dakota,” said Cal Meyer, Chief Operating Officer and Group Vice President. “The growth in soybean production in the Dakotas region provides the bushels to support our new facility. The soybean meal produced from this plant will enhance opportunities for AGP’s marketing efforts through our export terminal at the Port of Grays Harbor in the state of Washington. Area livestock production will also benefit from a competitive supply of local soybean meal from this facility.” Meyer added that once operational, the plant will create approximately 50 jobs with excellent compensation and benefits. Company officials noted that final construction decisions are contingent on completion of agreements with state and local officials. AGP (www.agp.com) is a leading agribusiness with primary operations as a major U.S. soybean processor/refiner producing and marketing soybean meal, refined soybean oil, and biodiesel. AGP businesses also include agricultural product trading in domestic and international markets and numerous U.S. grain elevator operations. AGP is owned by local and regional cooperatives representing farmer-producers across the United States. Corporate headquarters are located in Omaha, Nebraska.
