Major Responsibilities
Working with Dr T. Samuel in the Department of Pathobiology, in the Laboratory for Molecular
Research on Bioactive Compounds. Research involves identification and characterization of bioactive
compounds for applications in cancer and antimicrobial research.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to provide professional research assistance in molecular
biology, biotechnology, microbiology and related area; operate general laboratory equipment (balances,
pH-meter, NanoVue, spectrophotometer, TC10, centrifuges, autoclave, flowcytometer, upright/inverted
transmission microscopie, etc) propagate bacterial and human cells, run ELISA, western blot; and PCR.
Performing DNA/RNA extraction; cell migration assay, flowcytometry, MTT assay,
immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, AGID, maintain computer databases of results; design and
write protocols of experiments and general procedures.
Guide and instruct both undergraduate and graduate students.
Assist laboratory supervisor in various activities required in the preparation, collection, purchase, and
maintenance of a wide variety of materials and equipment and the general up-keep of instrumentation
and equipment to ensure safe operation.
