SUCCESS.
OUR
MISSION.
Welcome to NSU
Northeastern State University is Oklahoma’s fourth-largest public
institution, with three campuses and online programming. As the
oldest institution of higher education in Oklahoma, we offer strong
academics focused on career readiness and the third-lowest tuition of any
university in the state.
With a wide variety of options, you can select from 36 exceptional
undergraduate and 17 graduate degree programs. We are also the proud
home of the Oklahoma College of Optometry, the only optometry school
in Oklahoma and one of 22 in the nation. The ultimate goal for our
students is success as we strive to exceed expectations from first contact to
graduation, career placement and beyond.
Most students know it the minute they step on campus. . .
It just feels right.

I was hired immediately after I graduated. It was a
really easy transition from NSU, straight into my
career field.
I’m working for Seminole Science Charter School
(FL), which is a tuition-free, public charter school
that specializes in STEM (Science, Technology,
Engineering, Mathematics) classes. Had it not
been for NSU robotics (Robotics Academy of
Critical Engagement or R.A.C.E.), there was no
way I could have competed for this position.
They interviewed people from all over the
United States and my experiences here
definitely gave me an edge over a lot
of candidates.

Attending medical school has always been a dream of mine;
therefore I knew that I needed to attend an undergraduate
program with quality professors and smaller class sizes.
NSU became a place where I could concentrate on my
courses and interact directly with my professors in order
to gain valuable knowledge that would set me apart from
students who attended other institutions. In addition,
their focus on research allowed me to gain experience
in some of the world’s trendiest topics such as cancer
research and molecular pharming.

Apply yourself from day one. You’re here for a reason—to get an
education, to better yourself, to give back to the community in
some way, shape or form.
I took a tour of NSU and automatically fell in love with it. I got
the letter 10 days later. It was the longest 10 days of my life.
Right then I went back to Tahlequah, signed up for my
classes and I started applying myself even harder, because I
knew this was a university and I really wanted to do it right
this time.
I’m on the honor roll—again. It’s amazing. A lot of people
probably have the same story that I have. It’s never too
late to go back. I’m 27 years old and I will graduate when I
am 29 or 30. At the end of the day, I am going to have that
piece of paper and I’m going to be where I want to be in life.
