The Side Draft Volume 22, Issue 05 May 2015 Chairman’s Message May Meeting Info …… Steve Hack …. Steve Hack Congratulations to the Queen City Chapter members as we successfully voted on contributing a very generous donation to the Shriners Children Burns Hospital. The long hours put in by our swap meet committee and the long hours put in by every member allowed us to have a fruitful swap meet. It is always very satisfying to see how our club comes together, pulls off a great event and generates funds for a great cause. Date: Tuesday, May 19, 2015 The bitter temperatures are gone and it seems as though we have even outran the drastic daily temperature changes. That can only mean one thing "CORVETTE SUMMER" (I should make a movie about that). The events are starting to build up, with the Heart of America Regional in Joplin, Missouri and the May 30th Miami Valley Chapter Meet. Our sister chapter in Dayton is always helpful in our events and we have several members attending Voss Chevrolet for their event. If you aren't one of those members fill out a region form from the Driveline and head up for a fun filled Corvette day. Website Information Queen City Chapter Web Site: http://www.ncrs.org/qc/ Webmaster: Dale Maris qc@ncrs.org The Side Draft 1 The NCRS National Convention lands in nearby Denver, Colorado on the 19-24th of July. As always the Queen City will be well represented at this event. I can't think of a better way to use up some family vacation time. There are several members in the chapter that have not attended a National yet, it is certainly on the "Must do" list, and it is not too late to register. On a more local front; the Milford Cruise in on Friday evenings is back in full swing, add that to the Quaker Steak and Lube Sunday afternoon cruise in and it's a weekend full of events. The warmer months always increase the amount of Corvettes driven to our meetings. Let's try to break our 22 Corvette record and hit 25 over the next few meetings. See you at Eastern Corvettes in Amelia on Tuesday May 19th. Minutes April 2015 … Chris Rockenfield The April 2015 meeting of the QCNCRS was held at Tom James’s Garage. If you have never been there, Tom has an outstanding collection of cars and wonderful facility to have a meeting. Steve Hack began our meeting by thanking Tom for having our chapter meeting. Steve also mentioned there were no new members to introduce. Otto Takacs and Chris Rockenfield (VP, Secretary) had nothing to report at this time. Wayne McKee (Treasurer) then gave the Treasurer’s Report, a motion was made to accept it and the club voted to do so. Joe Sieve, (Membership Chair) had nothing to report at this time. We were all glad to see Joe back at a meeting. John Ballard (Judging Chairman) brought up the Charlotte regional meet was coming up, along with the Pinehurst concours event. Don’t forget that Bloomington gold is right around the corner in Indianapolis. Dale Maris (Web Master) had nothing to report at this time. Joe Eyl took the floor stating that Paul Oslansky’s tech session on Chassis Judging will be held at Columbia Chevy on May 16th 2015 at 9:00 am. Paul Oslansky (Regional Director) took the floor and discussed that Roy Roger’s will reopening on the Milford parkway and that it is another potential great place to hold a meeting. The group was running behind on time, Paul had MUCH more to say… but we had to move on. Details will be sent though email. Steve Hack took the floor once again and brought up OLD NEWS with mention of the Knoxville event in late March and the Indiana and Heart of Ohio chapter meets had commenced and were a success. Steve also mentioned he had the Vietnam Veterans stickers were available at this meeting. And thanks to the John Morrell substantial monetary donation that was given at our swap meet, the club had a plaque made in thanks, it was passed around for everyone’s viewing. Steve made mention how well the Ray Skillman trip was and there seem to be about 45 people on the trip. We also had a few more who met us at Ray’s. Otto Takacs then took the floor and brought up the discussion of how much to donate to the Shriners’. With much discussion, and GREAT feedback from a lot of members, a monetary number was given and a Motion was brought to the floor…seconded, and the club voted to do so. In NEW news, Steve, had mentioned one of our members… Cliff Wingerter was in the hospital; please keep your thoughts and prayers to their family. Steve then thanked Tom James again for hosting. Steve also stated don’t forget to sign the attendance roster and to bring chairs to the next meeting. The meeting will be held at Eastern Corvettes facility on May 19th.
