WHAT IS KAWAN?
Kawan (or Caouanne) is a sea turtle that can be
found in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
We thought the turtle would be a nice symbol for
a campsite chain. What animal is a better image
of a holidaymaker travelling with his home, like a
caravan owner? But also because Kawan means «
friend » in Malay. Because offering people a warm
welcome is the basis of our profession as campsite managers, we found that this name represented a certain number of our values.
KAWAN VILLAGES
Kawan Villages is one of the main voluntary
independent campsite chains of Europe. Created
in 2006, the chain counts 37 campsites (3, 4 and 5
stars) in France (33), Spain (3) and Italy (1). These
campsites are all independent, human scaled sites,
with an owner who is at his customers’ disposal.
Friendliness, comfort, quality and authenticity: that
is what you can expect on a Kawan Village. United
around shared values and labels like ‘Kawan Kids’,
offering parents the guarantee of activities for
their children during the high season, these 41
campsites work together for their marketing and
sales, with a website (4 languages) and a reservation call centre available 6 days per week (7
languages).

CAMPING HOLIDAYS ARE
« IN »
As the first type of tourist accommodation in France
and in Europe for over the past ten years, camping
is more and more popular with campers. Television
programmes, press articles and the equipments on
department store shelves are proof of this popularity. Camping has become both a pleasant and a
modern way of spending a holiday.
> THE MOST IMPORTANT REASONS FOR
THIS LOVE FOR CAMPING
> ECONOMY
It remains the cheapest way of spending a holiday.
> ECOLOGY
The concept of ecology is clearly present on these
campsites. Not only because the camper stays close to
nature, but also because the campsites invest in ecology
by sorting waste, by collecting waste water and by using
heating on solar energy.
> COMFORT
Campsites offer more and more top of the range facilities, with swimming pools that look like waterparks,
excellent leisure facilities, kids’ clubs, restaurants, wellness areas and fitness rooms. The rental accommodations have also developed and the current mobile homes
have become very modern. The trend moves towards a
high quality offer, with more spacious camping pitches
for instance, equipped with a private sanitary unit, etc.
> CHANGE OF SCENERY
Without having to travel to the other end of the world, a
campsite holiday offers a true change of scenery thanks
to the arrival of new, original types of accommodation:
tree cabins, lodge tents, huts on stilts, etc. Especially
children can fully enjoy a holiday on a campsite as it
offers them freedom they would find nowhere else.

THE VALUES OF
KAWAN VILLAGES
Kawan Villages counts 41 campsites. These campsites are divided over France (33), Italy (1) and
Spain (3). Thanks to their surface or their geographic situation, they offer exceptional features.
Some campsites have a large waterpark and leisure facilities, while others focus on the natural
character of their site. Uniting has allowed each
site to bring out their features, which are assets
within a chain that highlights their common values
but also their differences.
> HUMAN SCALED CAMPSITES
The Kawan Villages are human scaled campsites where
the customer is not treated like a number. Each site is
managed by an owner who takes care of his campsite
guests himself. He offers them a personal welcome and
is happy to show them his region and all the richness
it has to offer. These men and women, managers of the
Kawan Villages campsites, love to share their passion for
camping, but also the unique character of their campsite.
> QUALITY AND SERVICE
The Kawan Villages take special care of the quality of
the facilities and services offered to campers. That is why
waterparks, restaurants, wellness areas, sports rooms
and shops can be found on the various campsites. These
equipments and leisure facilities offer a pleasant holiday
to campers. In addition, the campsite owners and their
teams are at their customers’ disposal in order to meet
their expectations. Availability and service are not just
meaningless words on the Kawan Villages.
> CAMPSITES WITH LOVE FOR THEIR
REGION
The Kawan Villages are very attached to their region.
That is why their owners will be more than happy to
inform their campsite guests about their region and its
various hidden treasures. On a number of Kawan Villages, gastronomic activities are organised: tastings of
local wines, cooking lessons, outings to producers in the
region, etc.
By investing in the local life and by developing tourism,
also during the low season, the Kawan Villages contribute to the development of their region, and help preserving employment and shops in regions where economical
activity is often related to seasons.

A COMFORTABLE HOLIDAY
WITH KAWAN VILLAGES
As the preferred type of accommodation since the
past few years, camping is more and more popular
with campers. Besides the classical assets (being
in contact with nature, a friendly atmosphere, etc.)
camping is more and more comfortable, whether it
concerns the last generations of rental accommodations or a holiday in a tent or caravan on spacious camping pitches.
> SPACIOUS AND COMFORTABLE
RENTAL ACCOMMODATIONS
TThe latest generations of mobile homes and chalets
offer an exceptional level of equipment. These spacious mobile homes with gable roofs offer functional
bedrooms and lounges, as well as a modern design. The
latest types, made by Louisiane, O'Hara or Rapidhome,
are luxurious mobile homes with the quality of a hotel
suite, equipped with one bathroom per bedroom. Various
Kawan Villages offer this latest generation of mobile
homes. Don’t hesitate to contact us to receive the list of
Kawan Villages that offer them.
> MORE AND MORE COMFORTABLE
CAMPING PITCHES
Another current trend is the comeback of the tent, but in
a luxurious way. It is now possible to rent a fully equipped and very spacious tent on various campsites of the
Kawan Villages chain. These "lodge" tents have a wooden
floor and are fully equipped for a pleasant holiday close
to nature, without giving up on comfort.
