They operate two shelters, provide low cost veterinary care, and many other services and educational programs. Dear Animal Supporter, I am a member of Franklin’s Friends, a “pack” of pet lovers created to raise money for the SPCA of Central Florida. Our mission is to support the SPCA of Central Florida - a local 501(c)(3) charity created to promote responsible human behavior toward animals. It is strictly a local organization – they receive no federal, state, county, national animal organization, or United Way funding – so all the money they raise goes to their two animal shelters in Sanford and Orlando. The shelters have no time limits for their companion animals meaning any healthy, adoptable animal has a home at the SPCA for as long as it takes for them to find the perfect “forever” home. Franklin’s Friends and the SPCA of Central Florida are pleased to present the second annual “Tails on the Town” – a month-long shopping and dining out fundraiser. Won’t you participate in this event and help us help the pets? All we ask is that your business offer a special discount or promotion during the month of September to customers who purchase a $15 ticket for this virtual fundraiser. All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the SPCA of Central Florida. In return, you will be promoted as a participating business on the Franklin’s Friends website, the SPCA of Central Florida’s website, and print materials used to promote this event. For more information about Franklin’s Friends or the SPCA of Central Florida, visit www.franklinsfriends.info or www.OrlandoPets.org. Thank you for support. We provide shelter, adoption, clinic, and community programs. Project F.A.I.T.H. is a program in which we shelter and provide free vet care for the pets of families in crisis, including those who need to flee into domestic violence shelters. These pets remain in our care while their families make plans for the future. Pet Food Xpress is a program which helps feed the pets of Senior Citizens in collaboration with Meals on Wheels and Osceola County Council on Aging. We currently have 80 senior citizens, and their 160 pets, in Orange, Seminole and Osceola Counties which receive monthly deliveries of free pet food. Pet Visitation Program is a program where a team of persons and their pets bring joy, education, companionship and stimulation to people in need. This program routinely visits hospitals, Adult-day care facilities and long-term care facilities. Humane Education Department is a program to teach kids, teens and adults on a variety of topics related to pets, character and violence. There is also a reading program called Wagging Tales which helps kids develop reading skills. Cruelty Investigations divided into two parts, education and justice. Most of the time the Society's Cruelty Investigator serves as an educator. Pet owners just need to be taught, or reminded on the proper way to shelter and care for their companion animals. On days when mere education is worse than useless, the Cruelty Investigators are there, working with Animal Services and law enforcement to bring the pets to safety and the criminals to justice. Affordable Veterinary Clinic is our most requested service, providing high quality, affordable, out-patient veterinary care to the pets of our region. Our primary mission is to end pet overpopulation through spay/neuter surgery. We also have a Mobile Clinic that reaches Osceola County every week.
