ICAS Science Exam 2014 6 Students sat the ICAS Science Test this year. Specific skills in observing and measuring, interpreting, predicting & concluding, investigating & reasoning and problem solving were measured. This test is undertaken by many students throughout
Australasia and the Pacific and I would like to congratulate our students who gained the following results:

and seats will be allocated on the night under a
‘first come, first choice’ system.
My name is Jessica Foster I have been the drummer in the school rock band
called Kick Back this year. We recently attended two rock band competitions. These
competitions were extremely challenging, with intermediate rock bands from all over the
Waikato competing. In our first competition Dylan Jeffries was runner-up lead male
vocalist and in the second competition I was awarded the title rocking drummer of the
year. I have been learning the drums for four years with Glenn Jackson from Mad Cow
Drums, he has inspired me to be the best I can. I would also really like to thank Mr
Harrop for being our amazing mentor and taking us to the top. Also a huge thanks to
Sonia Webber for her amazing organizing skills and making sure we kept it together and
to our parents for making sure we practiced and for giving us these opportunities.
KICK BACK we rock!!!!!

Being in the school rock band has been an awesome experience but to get there I’ve
been learning guitar for four and a half years. I’m currently lead guitarist in our band
‘Kick Back’. I’m sad to be leaving Ohaupo School this year because I’ve learnt so much

I have been in a band for 2 1/2 years but have been learning guitar with Mr Harrop for
4 1/2 years… and that’s a lot of guitar! I play rhythm guitar in the band and back-up
vocals too. Being in the rock band is really cool and a great experience. Mr Harrop has
really helped me with my stage presence. My highlights have been PULSE and the
smokefree rock quest (where the girls couldn’t get enough of us!) and the crowd was
massive. Our next performance will be at the fireworks and we look forward to seeing
you all there. I would like to thank Mr Harrop and our parents for getting us there.

Being in a band is an awesome experience to have. I play the bass guitar and I get
lessons after school every second Thursday. We have just competed in two competitions this term and they were awesome. There were bands from all over the country.

The school rock band has been an amazing experience to be a part of. I play rhythm
guitar and lead vocals. I have being doing guitar lessons for 4 years, this being my 5th
year, every Thursday with Mr Harrop. In the PULSE competition I was in the top 3 male
vocalists which raised my confidence for the smokefree rock quest.

Ohaupo School Hall. Please bring a plate of finger food and a bottle of drink to share for lunch.
Please bring your washed clean uniforms in a named plastic bag. Please return all trophies ASAP
to the school office.
Chocolates - all chocolates or money should returned to Rachel Kelly or the School office by
this Friday, thank you everyone for your support. Funds from this are going towards a new line
marker for the fields for athletics and soccer.
