IT’S ABOUT THE KIDS! Every week 221 local kids and their mentors bond through positive
experiences, serious talks and fun activities. We call them “magic moments.” Events such as BOWL FOR KIDS’
SAKE provide the funds we need to continue creating and supporting matches between “Bigs” and “Littles.”
Your pledge makes a big impact on our program and the children in our area. The average cost to support an area
match is approximately $650.
Where the money goes:
• Recruiting new Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers.
• Covering the costs of background checks, while ensuring
trained professionals match Littles to responsible Bigs.
• Enabling ongoing supervision and relationship support
for every Big, Little and Little’s family.
• Providing cultural and social activities to enrich the
opportunities for children.

A LOCAL STORY…
At BBBS, not only is our need strong for positive, male role models
for our younger Littles, but also our older youth. One of our new male
mentors is a young man from the Criminal Justice program at NTC.
He had excellent references and strong credentials. He was also
interested in working with an older youth. Which was an added plus
because volunteers typically prefer the younger children in our program,
making it difficult to match youth that are middle school aged. The
perfect Little was found that had been on our waiting list for a couple
of years. Typically older youth decide to drop out and look for other
opportunities, but this particular Little still was eager to have a Big
Brother. So on a chilly November day the Match Support Specialist
met the Big Brother in the Middle School office and introduced him to
his new Little Brother. With both sharing a love for soccer, these two
gentlemen hit it off magnificently – they were so excited to get to know
one another. From the very start, one would have thought these two men
were friends for a lifetime, not just a few moments.
