SICA is proud to present a Carnatic Vocal Concert by
Sangeetha Swaminathan and Party

Richcraft Theatre at Shenkman Arts Centre, 245 Centrum Blvd., Orleans
Smt. Sangeetha Swaminathan is the senior-most disciple of Smt. Sudha
Raghunathan since 1993 and has now emerged as the torchbearer of the
GNB/MLV school of music. She has received the “Outstanding Lady
Vocalist” award from the Music Academy, Chennai and the MLV
Award from the Carnatic Music Association of North America. Her
vocal style is marked by full-throated bhriga-laden singing and has
garnered international acclaim through performances in Canada and the
US, Europe, and Asia. She is an A-grade artiste of the All India Radio.
Born in Montreal, Dr. Anjana Srinivasan studied Carnatic violin in India
under the renowned Sri Vittal Ramamurthy as well as Smt. Lalgudi
Vijayalakshmi and Sri G.J.R. Krishnan of Chennai, daughter and son of
the great violin maestro Sri Lalgudi G. Jayaraman. She is also trained in
South Indian Classical dance and Western Classical Violin. Anjana
teaches violin while practicing as a family physician in Montreal.
Sri B. Gowrishankar is an internationally renowned Mridangist and
the director of Layamadhuraa Percussive Arts in Toronto. He
received tutelage from leading Mridanga Vidwan Sri Thiruvarur
Bakthavatsalam. He has performed and accompanied numerous
celebrated artists across India, North America, and Europe for the
last 27 years. He has received numerous awards and titles including
the "Best Teacher Award" presented by The Cleveland Thyagarajah
Aradhana Committee.
