Connections is coming in August
June 2012
Spring time is here bringing us nicer weather, outdoor cooking, and the sights of
colorful trees and flowers. Shortly after that is the return of the boys of summer
playing America’s pastime – baseball. While still early in the season, someone is
sure to bring up the amount of money the top teams can pay for players, and
how on earth can those small market teams compete? Sometimes it does not
seem balanced. But if you come to Connections this upcoming August, you will
have the opportunity to attend our networking event and see this theory in
action. It will be an evening on which you do not want to swing and miss.
NOW OPEN @
www.udusers.com
The Executive Committee stepped up to the plate
to try and knock one out of the park during the
cactus league this winter. (Spring training baseball
is held in Arizona and Florida, and has forever
been nicknamed the Cactus league and the
Grapefruit league, respectively.) We think that
with your help, this was accomplished. Meeting
with Harland Financial Solutions, they had asked
for feedback from you via various surveys recently
– and the responses on these surveys were nothing short of a grand slam. The
information that we were able to provide will really help with prioritization of
RFEs, planning on sessions at Connections and improvements on the Process
Transaction tool. We thank you very much for the feedback!
Our team has also been working hard to get the Forum Website prepared for its
opening day. Some of you have already joined in on the conversation, and that
is great to see! We look forward to completing some last minute enhancements
based on user feedback, moving the existing Yahoo! threads into the new forum
for archival purposes, and watching this new and greatly enhanced
communication tool help all of us collaborate and exchange knowledge. The
Forum will be fully ready to go soon, but you can check it out now and add to
the conversation.
The final item that the Executive Committee was able to participate in was the
Executive Perspectives forum in Florida. We were invited to attend this session
to learn about industry specific topics and participate in round table discussions
on lending. This face to face meeting with subject matter experts and fellow
credit union colleagues was very informative and the next time this comes
around, we encourage an acceptance on the invitation from Harland Financial
Solutions.
Thank you again for your support of the Executive Committee, we look forward
to working with you.

The UltraData® Users’ group is listening is charged to “Stimulate the free
exchange of information” between credit unions using the UltraData Enterprise
platform. We are tackling this challenge by investing in technology that can
build on past success of the open community dedicated to UltraData
Enterprise. We are proud to announce the introduction of our memberfocused “Forums”. The creation of the Forums is intended to build on the
enormously successful and well utilized Yahoo® Group, but to add features and
functions that would benefit our national membership.
Some of the initial features that we hope you will find very valuable include:

The ability to subscribe (receive emails) to the whole forum board, a
particular Category, a specific topic or just an individual thread – You are in
control and do not have to receive messages not relevant to you!

Search the entire board and history – this is priceless for due diligence or technical support questions.

Unlimited number of users per Credit Union – YES! Everyone at your CU can enroll and reset their own password, with no IT
involvement! We want everyone involved—Member Services, Lending, Accounting, etc.

Conversation categorization – ability to classify your question or discussion to a particular module, business line, or vendor.

Vendor participation only as it relates to their products (Restricted access to only their categorized threads).

Visitor participation (Limited access) – ability for participation even if a credit union or vendor is not a member of the UltraData®
Users’ Group but has a stake in the success of the UltraData® Enterprise platform or Credit Union Movement.
We look forward to the upcoming successful launch of this highly collaborative tool and keep your eyes open for even more
improvements in the near future!

Your Newest Executive Committee Member
My name is Sarah Lawson
and I have been with Alcoa
Tenn Federal Credit Union
for 13 years. Our credit union has been on the UltraData Enterprise platform since 1997. I
have held positions in the teller/member service area of the CU before advancing to the IT
Department in 2000. I served as a Systems Operator until 2005; managing the in-house
UltraData Enterprise system, transition to the OnBase system, and later our transition to
LCOA ENN
UltraData Enterprise Service Center. My current IT work includes CU operations, employee
training, new product implementations, specialized work with OnBase, UA/VR, Bill
Federal Credit Union
payment, and Business Continuity. I can also be found promoting the credit union
philosophy and telling the story of how our credit union was founded in 1936. I believe in the credit union
movement and I am proud to serve as a liaison to help credit unions better serve their members to the fullest
