If you answered YES to

exciting and create new

your first time getting

just need to update your

PVFCU has been working in our local community and with other national credit union
organizations to raise awareness about increasing the member business lending cap.
Federal law currently limits the amount of small business loans credit unions can make. A
number of credit unions, including ours, have hit this cap and are forced to turn away local
small businesses in need of credit. The Credit Union Small Business Jobs Bill that would raise
the cap (waiting on a vote in the Senate at the time of this publication) will not cost taxpayers
a dime, but would help small businesses fuel job growth, creating nearly 5,000 new jobs in
Virginia.
You, our members, have helped in the cause by urging our VA Senators to support the bill, thru
emailing them in addition to signing more than 625 postcards that were mailed to them. THANK
YOU! We also created a short video, interviewing some of our members who own small businesses,
which has been viewed more than 860 times (Click the YouTube link on our website home page to
view the video)!
Additionally, Ken Gonyer, Broadway Branch Manager, was awarded the 2011 Political Action Advocate
of the Year by the Virginia Credit Union League and the Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia, in
recognition of Outstanding Achievement, Leadership and Vision as a Champion of Political Action. His
work included leading efforts on the member video that was created, as well as contributing numerous
articles to national credit union publications and blogs. He accepted the award on behalf of PVFCU
and numerous other employees who have spent significant time on raising awareness of the business
lending cap issue.
Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page to stay informed on the latest details and outcome of
the Senate vote on the Small Business Jobs Bill.

Annual Business Meeting
PVFCU’s annual business meeting was held on May 17th at VMRC. Three board members were elected
during the meeting: Leslie Fulk of Broadway and Irene Kniss and Dan Martin, both of Harrisonburg.
Appreciation was expressed for Wallace Hatcher, outgoing Board of Directors President, whose strong
leadership and contributions to PVFCU will have a lasting impact. Current Board Member Larion
Hostetler, was nominated to serve as President for the next 2 years, succeeding Hatcher. John Beiler,
CEO, shared a few highlights of the past year, including surpassing $100 million in assets making us one
of the top 30 largest credit unions in VA. He also shared clarified values and a new mission statement
that resulted from a recent strategic planning process. Members, employees, and board members
concluded the evening enjoying ice cream sundaes.
