One of the major reasons for an Annual General Meeting is to elect a Board of Directors for the next year. Board
membership offers the opportunity to participate in the routine day to day functioning of our club but also to
actively participate in the debate and decision making process which is necessary to implement changes. The
functions of the eight officers are described in Part 7 of our Bylaws and every position is open at the AGM.
Our current Vice President, Andrew Prenty has embarked on a multi-year road bike adventure with his spouse
Amanda and will not be standing for re-election this year. Andrew has been a representative for the bike riding
community at the lodge; he helped us to understand how FORC could make a few simple changes to better
accommodate that group.
The role of Vice President is not specific as the other board positions are. The definition in our Bylaws just says
the Vice President carries out the duties of the President during the President’s absence and carries out such
other duties as may be prescribed by the Directors. This position is an excellent way for someone without
previous board experience to join and contribute.
Please let me know if you are prepared to stand for this or another position on the board or if you wish to
nominate another member. Alternatively nominations can be brought forward at the AGM.

Hello
all.
I hope everyone has been enjoying the wonderfully warm extended Summer. It has been a great season at the
Lodge and the Whistler area in general. Good festivals, alpine flowers and lots of bike and swim opportunities,
made staying at Lodge seem like a tropical vacation.
First up on Events is;
Thanksgiving Weekend. The Holiday is Monday October 13.
We expect the Lodge dinner will be Saturday October 11th.
Quickly following that, the AGM is on Thursday October 16.
Work Party weekend is Oct 17-19th. Hope to see some new faces in with the familiar.
New Years Eve is on a Wednesday night this year. We are planning another fantastic Party for that Celebration.
So, from a great Summer and a busy Fall schedule, I am sure we are all hoping to see a good winter season.

Whistler Blackcomb new mountain pass
New RFID Te chno log y on Whi stl er a nd B lack comb M oun tain s
Whistler Blackcomb invested $5.9 million into information technology initiatives. Among other upgrades, the
investment includes the introduction of a radio-frequency identification (“RFID”) system with lift access control
gates on most mountain lifts. Expected benefits of the new RFID technology include reduced wait times at
Whistler Blackcomb’s main access points and the minimization of unpaid lift access.
The new mountain pass is required for the incoming season. Don’t wait at the last minute
to get your new card. Whistler Village gondola
Whistler will have new eight-passenger village gondola cabins for the Whistler Village Gondola. It will replace
the existing cabins which have been transporting guests up the mountain since 1988. The new “Diamond” level
walk-in cabins have been selected to dramatically improve the experience for skiers, snowboarders, and
sightseers with all eight passengers able to sit comfortably on bench seating. The new configuration should
also improve capacity for the Whistler Village Gondola through greater loading efficiency. The new cabins were
fabricated in France by Sigma, a subsidiary of Leitner-POMA, the original manufacturer of the Whistler Village
Gondola. Each of the three lift terminals for the Whistler Village Gondola will also see improvements to
enhance the functionality of the interior space.
Whistler Blackcomb and Sun Peaks
WHISTLER, BC September 2, 2014 – Whistler Blackcomb and Sun Peaks Resort are excited to announce a
new reciprocal seasons pass agreement. This agreement allows 2014.15 Season Passholders to receive a
discount of 50 percent off the window ticket rate at each of the resorts; Whistler Blackcomb and Sun Peaks
Resort.
This new agreement coincides with Sun Peaks Resort’s recent announcement of adding over 500 acres of
alpine terrain to become the second largest ski resort in Canada. Whistler Blackcomb is the largest ski resort in
North America.
“We continually look for new and exciting ways to add value for our season passholders,” says Stuart Rempel,
Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Whistler Blackcomb. “This is an exciting season for us with our
new Whistler Village Gondola cabins and RFID access, both which will be ready to go for opening day. We look
forward to welcoming Sun Peaks’ passholders to come and experience what skiing and riding in Whistler is all
about.”
The offer applies to 2014.15 Whistler Blackcomb Unlimited Season Passholders, including Whistler Blackcomb
Spirit Passholders, and 2014.15 Sun Peaks Alpine Season Passholders. For Whistler Blackcomb Passholders,
this offer excludes Midweek, 15-Day, Student, Graduate, and Spring Passholders.
“We couldn’t be more excited about the agreement,” says Aidan Kelly, Director of Sales and Marketing at Sun
Peaks Resort. “With our new terrain development, we saw lots of opportunity to build our relationship with
Whistler Blackcomb. We wanted to add value to our existing season passholders while opening us up to
additional markets. Having an alliance with Whistler Blackcomb means combining two significant resorts. We
hope Whistler Blackcomb passholders take advantage of this great opportunity to explore the interior.”
Whistler Blackcomb’s official opening day is November 27, 2014, and Sun Peaks’ official opening day is
November 22, 2014.
A 50 percent discount will be applied to the current Window Ticket rate at the time of purchase and the Season
Passholder must show valid photo identification along with their 2014.15 Season Pass for their respective
resort partner.
