Welcome the Visiting Madonna
While we are encouraged to embrace Jesus’ cross,
perhaps the next best thing we can do as the faithful is
to turn to the Blessed Mother for guidance…”Blessed
Mother, please help me.” As human beings, we can’t
do everything. But the Blessed Mother can go to her
Son Jesus and do wonders.
The Knights of Columbus are offering intimate prayer
devotions in your own homes to all parishioners so that every
family may experience visitation for one week from our Visiting
Madonna. Families will begin to experience a sense of peace,
quiet and reflection while saying the Rosary as a family with Our
Lady. The family that prays together stays together. If you are
interested in participating in welcoming the Visiting Madonna,
please call Sam Konrad at (843) 399-7003 or email him at
skonrad1@sccoast.net.
This week, The Visiting Madonna will be presented to

Let us pray for the Little Sisters of the Poor, that
they can avoid bankrupting fines.
"If this appeal is lost, government becomes head
of every religious denomination in the country by
its assumed authority to determine what is, in fact,
a sin." Thomas More Law Center
The Supreme Court will hear arguments on March 23 in the
case of Little Sisters of the Poor to determine if they and other
faith-based ministries can be forced to change their health-care
plans "to offer drugs that violate their religious beliefs when
those same drugs could be made available through healthcare
exchanges," said Becket Fund For Religious Liberty.
"After promising that the Little Sisters religious beliefs would be
protected, the government created a new regulation requiring
that the Little Sisters change their healthcare plan to offer drugs
that violate Catholic teaching," the Becket Fund explained. "One
third of U.S. workers are employed by secular companies (e.g.
Exxon, Visa) that are exempt from having to provide these same
drugs since their health plans are 'grandfathered'".

Knights of Columbus Help Our ‘Special Kids’
Knights of Columbus Council 7122, Our Lady Star of the Sea,
would like to offer a heartfelt THANK YOU to our Parishioners,
Neighbors, Friends, and Visitors who contributed to our
Columbus Hope Foundation Campaign in 2015.
The Knights of Columbus, the Columbiettes, and students and
adults from the various local schools and organizations collected
$14,900 during our Columbus Hope campaign last year by giving
away Tootsie Rolls at local businesses and after Mass at Our
Lady Star of the Sea. The purpose of this campaign is to
increase public awareness of the needs of these very SPECIAL
CHILDREN, and to give the teachers and moderators additional
resources necessary to help these children and adults.
On February 17, 2016, checks were distributed to representatives
of each of the Organizations at a special breakfast held at Hot
Stacks in North Myrtle Beach. Recipients of these funds included
the Special Ed departments of the Ocean Drive Elementary
(NMB), Riverside Elementary (NMB), Waterway Elementary
(NMB) and North Myrtle Beach Middle School as well as The
Grand Strand Down Syndrome Society, ARC of Horry County
(ARC helps young adults with intellectual disabilities), and
Current Transitions.
As you can see, the funds remain in our Community, and help
our Special Children and young adults.
Again, we really appreciate the tremendous support we receive
from every one of you who have helped us in our efforts. We are
all constantly being called to be Stewards of God’s Gifts by
willingly sharing our Time, Talents, and Treasure.
THANK YOU AND MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU.

SECOND COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Soon, our diocese will be taking up The Catholic
Relief Services Collection. This collection funds six
Catholic agencies that work to serve Jesus in the
disguise of our suffering brothers and sisters around the world.
These agencies provide a broad range of services, including
advocating for immigrants, providing humanitarian aid in the
wake of natural disasters, resettling displaced individuals, and
working for increased peace in our world. Your support of this
collection is an opportunity to help Jesus in disguise.
In 2005, in war-torn Afghanistan, Aazar* and Ali* lost their family
due to their father’s political affiliations. The boys, ten and eight
years old, fled to Pakistan, looking for safety amid the many
threats to their lives. Shortly after they arrived in Quetta,
Pakistan, they were separated, and despite days of searching,
Aazar could not find his younger brother. Continuing to receive
threats, Aazar was forced to keep moving, making his way
through Pakistan and Iraq, and finally reaching an orphanage in
Turkey, where he was granted refugee status. In 2012, he
received a referral to be placed in the United States Conference
of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Unaccompanied Refugee Minor
(URM) program, bringing him to the United States.
Once here in the United States, Aazar reached out to the BBC,
which held a nightly radio program broadcast in the Middle East
to find missing persons, for help in finding Ali. Within one week,
his brother was found alive in Pakistan, having lived with a
family for the past seven years. However, he had been residing
as a domestic helper and so did not attend school, nor did he
have any friends. The USCCB’s Migration and Refugee
Services (MRS) program began working with agencies in the
United States and Nepal and with the United Nations to reunite
the brothers, and ultimately, Ali was also referred to the USCCB
URM program. After nine years of separation, the brothers were
once again reunited and could begin to resettle and reconnect as family.
MRS is one of the six worldwide Catholic relief agencies funded
by The Catholic Relief Services Collection. These agencies
work to provide food, water, disaster relief, and other vital
assistance to Jesus in the disguise of suffering people each day.
Please be generous in The Catholic Relief Services Collection.
Your support truly makes a difference.
In the Lord’s Peace,
Most Reverend Robert E. Guglielmone
Bishop of the Diocese of Charleston

CUARTO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA
.PARABOLA DEL HIJO PRODIGO Y EL PADRE
MISERICORDIOSO
(San Lucas 15,1-32)
Queridos Hermanos:
siempre trabaja esperando recompensa.
-No
