My whole maternal family side is from Abruzzo, and since my very first years of life I had the chance of having an authentic nonna Abruzzese that would prepare delicious meals and sing me typical chants. Not only did I have the chance to experience such things when younger, in addition my family and I have always been proud to keep our customs and traditions to this day. As my grandmother still prepares delicious meals typical of my region, my mom makes sure to cook these authentic meals at our home everyday, even thousands of miles away from our home country. On my side, as I now live in my very own apartment, I have to prepare meals by myself, and I can proudly say that my meals always reflect my beautiful Abruzzo. As of every year, I am looking forward to going back to Italy this summer, and being reunited with my beautiful nonna Abruzzese and the rest of our family. Regarding my education, I am currently a junior at Michigan State University, majoring in Economics (B.A.) with an additional major in Psychology. Here at my university, I have always proudly shown my Italian ethnicities, to the point that some of my friends have given me the nickname of “Little Italy”. On campus I am involved in Greek Life, as I am a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. I am also a teacher’s assistant (TA) for the course Communication 100. Photo’s from 2015 GALA. Provide scholarships and promote cultural exchange between Abruzzese students at the high school, undergraduate and graduate college level; Hidden Treasure By Father Enzo Addari Bunnies, Easter eggs, candies, etc... At the present these things are giving us the idea of Easter. But these are only collateral things. There is something major in the Easter celebration. It is a celebration of beauty, hope, faith and charity. It is a celebration of a hidden treasure. Beauty: for something that we cannot fully describe, God has revealed a mystery in our midst, He has done something totally new, that goes beyond history, our human perceptions and experiences, and introduces us into His glory. Hope: we are surrounded by many proposals, tensions, solutions, promises of freedom, especially freedom from God, but the more we dwell in them, the more we sink in our emotions without finding solutions to our search and we despair. The hope we celebrate points for us the direction we need to take. We cannot find meaning in ourselves, but only in God, who has given us His Son, who, giving up his life for us on the Cross, was raised that we could with Him enter into God's life and have meaning in our own earthly life. Faith: all the above can be lived only in faith. Through the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus, we can trust God, see Him, feel Him as integral part of our life, thus have fullness and meaning. Charity: we carry out the beauty, hope and faith in solidarity with the other human beings. God has chosen us that together we can be part of His family, thus overcoming our personal, common, social and cultural barriers and embracing everyone as members of God's family. The Resurrection of the Lord is that hidden treasure that God has put on our hands and opens the door for a life of beauty, fulfillment and meaning. This is the beauty of Easter and no one should be left out from it. Happy Easter to all. You can taste cheeses practically anywhere in the mountain range, form north to south. Caciofiore aquilano, which takes its name from using wild artichoke when curdling the milk; Castel del Monte, pecorino cheese in wicker, with a slightly strong bite and creamy Cacio marcetto, with its pungent smell and very sharp taste. On the opposite side of the Gran Sasso range there is the soft, milky Giuncata Termana cheese, while further south in the Valle Peligna and uplands area, you can taste the creamy Pacentro ricotta and mild Rivisondoli scamorza.
