Stoneleigh Residences Make Grand Dallas Debut With THEE Party
Stoneleigh Residences Make Grand Dallas Debut With THEE Party in Dallas Last Thursday by Candy Evans No Comments I’m sick I had to miss this: guests and local celebrities celebrated the unveiling of the newest luxury high rise to hit the Dallas skyline, and also one of the most anticipated: The Residences at The Stoneleigh in Uptown on Maple. more than 400 — yikes! –toured the elegant lobby, 26-seat theatre, homeowner’s lounge, the state of the art health club, banquet space with a full commercial kitchen and the stunning pool with an amazing view of the city skyline. But not to worry: I sent spies! Developer Mehrdad Moayedi, who I call Saint Stoneleigh as he rescued this project in the throes of the recession, welcomed Trammell S. Crow, Roxanne and Gene Phillips, Don and Linda Carter, Doris Jacobs and daughters, Mackie & Paul Ellenbogen, Loyd Taylor (so sorry I missed you baby!), Susan and Gene Stoner, Larry Hamilton, Linda & Scott Greer, Angie Barrett, Mickey Munir, Carmaleta Whiteley, John Bobbitt, Teffy Jacobs, John Phifer Marrs and Senator Royce West. I was, unfortunately, doing due diligence in the Grand Cayman Islands with a company called Dart Realty that you will be hearing more of. You may recall the original Stoneleigh project went into bankruptcy in 2009, with only about 12 floors of the structure finished. Mehrdad paid $4.55 million to buy the development out of Chapter 11, then took out a $25.3 million construction loan to finish the project. Which at that time, think 2009 folks, was effing amazing. Located at 2300 Wolf Street, almost the corner of Wolf and Maple, the Residences at the Stoneleigh feature twenty-two stories of luxury living with custom built homes in the sky. Located adjacent to the landmark Le Meridien Stoneleigh Hotel in the bustling Uptown neighborhood of Dallas, the Residences are minutes from downtown Dallas, the Dallas Arts District, the Dallas Design District, art galleries, restaurants and shopping. This has always been one of my favorite condo developments because of the location: located across from the Stoneleigh P, you get the feel of being in a brownstone neighborhood. Also, from the get-go, Mehrdad is making these units bigger than what many downtown condos did. Bigger even than what the original developers planned. Back in 2006, everyone thought “New York City dweller” when it came to building condos in Dallas. Well, Dallas isn’t New York and we like our square footage. We like walk-in closets and pantries. How did developers expect people moving from an 8,500 square foot home to squeeze into 2000 square feet, I don’t care how many vacation homes they have! (That’s why so many buyers at The Ritz and Azure ended up combining two or more units!) Unlike most other Dallas condos, the Residences at the Stoneleigh offer customizable floor plans to all buyers. That is, you buy a shell and finish it out as you want to: contemporary, traditional, whatever. Like others, the building offers large balconies and sweeping Dallas views from all floors. Homeowners enjoy 24-hour Concierge and doorman, valet parking, a fully equipped fitness center that I’m told deserves the “O” word, his and her steam rooms & saunas, and a 26seat movie theatre. “I was a little surprised they never showcased any of the condos,” one of my inside agents told me, “but the amenities are amazing. You will definitely approve.” I sure approve of (0ne of) the homebuilders Mehrdad has selected to finish out the homes: Sharif & Munir Custom Homes (a CandysDirt-approved homebuilder) and Crescent Estates Custom Homes. Michael Munir tells me his company is busy finishing out four Stoneleigh units, with one almost complete: that would be 14B. It’s 3500 square feet. 15B is also 3500 square feet, and penthouse 21B, one of three penthouses available, is over 4000 square feet in size. See what I mean? The Residences at the Stoneleigh dish out hefty servings of real estate. “All the units will have custom finish outs, ” says Michael.” “My personal commitment has been the creation of a new landmark for the Dallas skyline which features truly elegant architecture, top quality construction, state of the art technology and the finest amenities available anywhere in the city.” said Mehrdad. Who’s buying there? We know that Don Carter snapped up a unit, though he also bought a penthouse at the Ritz-Carlton Residences, and I’ve heard the name Goss associated with a recent purchase. Maybe these photos will give you a hint as to else might be shopping the place… Trammell Crow? Scott and Linda Greer? Gene and Roxanne Phillips? Content From Around the Web
