art studios, galleries, and farmers’ markets. It is going to be BIGGER and BETTER!
This year we are opening our venues to include artists from the Northwest Region!
Meet the artists, agricultural producers and their animals living and working at the
edge of magnificent Lake Champlain. Join Vermont Farm Tours on Saturday the 11
and participate in one of several mapped bicycle routes that take you to many of
the venues on the tour.
This is a great way to get off the main road and truly discover the heart of the
islands. Watch demonstrations by potters, jewelers, painters, wood turners and
fiber artists. Sample savory delights from island producers and chefs at the Farmer’s
Market on Saturday. Visit island farms and chat with the folks who provide the
fresh meats, cheeses, and produce for our local markets. See angora goats, alpacas,
llamas, and sheep and get a chance to see how yarn is hand spun from these fiber
animals.
The Discover the Heart of the Islands Open Farm and Studio Tour is a great
opportunity to buy items directly from the hands of the artists in their studios.
You can also visit fine art and craft galleries where work from island artists is
featured. For those who are more adventurous plan to get your shoes dirty and

Island Arts Gallery located in the conference room at the Merchants Bank in South Hero is proud to host the
works of Phillip Robertson for the month of July.
Robertson is an interdisciplinary artist and printmaker who has lived in Vermont since 1994.
Inspired by the natural landscape, Robertson uses his
imagination and memory to look beyond realism to make
a statement about the pastoral landscape tradition in the
21st century.
In 1989 he earned his BFA in Painting with a Minor
in Art History from the University of Massachusetts in
Amherst followed by an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts
from Goddard College in 2008.
Robertson currently teaches art and art history at the
Community College of Vermont.
The Island Arts Gallery at the Merchants Bank is open to
the public during normal banking hours, Monday through
Thursday from 9 to 4 pm and Friday from 9 to 5:30 pm.

What is it?
The creature pictured on the cover was caught by
James Kingsbury of North Hero at the Grand Isle
tracks. It was approximately 5-6” in length, appeared
to have no eyes, two claws (one slightly deformed and
smaller than the other). It had a crustacean like shell
and a coral like head. When released the creature dove
deep into the water similar to a lobster. Do you know

Who’s ready for fresh fruits and veggies? WE ARE!
The 2015 WIC Farm to Family program is gearing up
to begin this summer. Farm to Family coupons help
you buy locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables
at participating farmers’ markets, including the
Champlain Islands Farmers Market. All active WIC
participants, 6 month and up, are eligible for a coupon
booklet that is worth $30!
You can pick up your Farm to Family Coupons
right at the Champlain Islands Farmers’ Market on
Wednesday, July 8 or Wednesday, August 5, from 3
to 6 pm.
South Hero Land Trust is teaming up with the
Vermont Department of Health to share some great
recipes for meals made with fresh fruits and vegetables
from the Farmers’ Market. We’ll have free samples,
tips, and recipes cards to hand out to everyone who
comes to that market.
Join us this Wednesday, from 3 to 6 pm behind the
St. Rose of Lima Church on Route 2 in South Hero. To

Annual Meeting
The North Hero Historical Society will hold its’
annual meeting at 6 pm on Wednesday, July 8 at
the North Hero Community Hall. All are welcome.

Pancake Breakfast
The Grand Isle Volunteer Fire Department and
Auxiliary invite you to a delicious pancake breakfast
on July 12 from 7 to 11 am at St. Joseph’s Church in
Grand Isle. The breakfast features Ma Blow’s donuts.

Church Lawn Supper
West Swanton Methodist Church will hold their
annual lawn supper on Saturday, July 11 at 5:30 pm
with ham, baked beans, assorted salads and desserts!

Saint Anne’s Shrine
The Society of Saint Edmund, The Religious
Community that conducts the ministry at Saint
Anne’s Shrine, would like to take this opportunity to

SELECTBOARD MINUTES
Board Members Present for June 29 meeting: Christopher Herrick, Skip Brown, also Board Secretary,
Jonathan Shaw, Anne Zolotas. Board Members Not Present: Carol Tremble
Public input: A: Bob Buermann and Mike Guernsey of Northwest Regional Planning were present to advise
the board of a few matters: There is a State law that says South Hero and Grand Isle can tax submarine power
lines. If the TDI-New England power cable comes to fruition, there may be some revenue available for the town.
The State will probably be involved in setting the rate; NRPC will be summarizing the new water quality bills that
have come into effect for the Towns in the region; GMTA is studying the Islands for a possible bus route; Bob
Buermann is now chairman of NRPC. B: There is a concern about the new paint striping on Route 2. VTrans is
aware that it was not painted to the plan and will be reviewing fixing it.
New Business: A: The following issues were brought up with the members of the Planning Commission and
Zoning Board of Adjustment in attendance. Note that the Town Plan is being updated and that new zoning laws
are planning to be rewritten when the town plan is approved. Possible sign ordinance: The sign regulations are
causing issue with some new businesses who have to follow the regulations, while businesses that were existing
before the regulations came into effect are exempt from all sign regulations. It has been suggested that the PC
look into the regulations and that perhaps the Selectboard can adopt an ordinance to make all business comply
after a certain amount of time. Possible Certificate of Occupancy changes: There is a clause in the current zoning
regulations that is causing problems. The PC is aware of this and plan to look into new language. Possible land
alteration changes: This will also be looked into by the PC. Possible change of building permit measurement
method: This will also be looked into by the PC.
Other Business: A: Orders #15-26A and 16-01 were signed. B: There was an executive session for personnel
matters.
The South Hero Select Board will meet Monday July 13 at 7 pm at the Town Office.
ZONING HOURS
The South Hero Zoning Administrator holds office hours Mondays, Tuesday, and Thursdays from 9:30 am to
12:30 pm and from 6 to 7 pm on the 2nd and 4th Mondays on the month at the town office.
BURN PERMITS
Burn permits are available through Woody Smith at 372-4734 or the Town Clerk at 372-5552. Burn permits
are required for outdoor burning. Burning is only permitted during daylight hours and only unpainted or
untreated wood products, leaves and brush may be burned.

Concerts at Fisk Farm
The Isle La Motte Preservation Trust will present its fourteenth Pro-Series Concert season with two
top notch classical concerts on the evenings of July 18 and August 22. Hosted at Fisk Farm in Isle La
Motte, in the restored Horse and Carriage Barn, both concerts will feature exceptional young concert
artists. All are first prize winners in prestigious international competitions.
On Saturday, July 18 at 7:30 pm the Cheng Duo, featuring Bryan Cheng on cello and his sister Silvie
Cheng on piano, are returning to Fisk Farm after a sold out performance in 2013 where they received
standing ovations. The duo has given many recitals in Canada and the United States, Europe and Asia.
The sibling duo regularly perform at foreign diplomatic embassies in Ottawa for organizations including
the Friends of the NAC Orchestra and the Canadian Music Competition. They have been invited to
perform for functions at Parliament Hill of Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada. They have
performed throughout North America, Belgium, Italy, the Czech Republic, Holland, China and South
Korea. The Cheng Duo presented their New York debut recital to a sold-out audience at Carnegie Hall’s
Weill Recital Hall. New York Concert Review wrote: “thoroughly idiomatic and polished performances”,
“especially poetic” and “purely magical” playing.
Reservations for inside seating for the two concert series are $45. Advance reservations for inside
seating for a single concert are $25. At the door inside seating is $28 if there is still room. Seating on the
lawn is $15 and children on the lawn are free. Concert goers are invited to bring a picnic to enjoy on
the lawn before the concert. The grounds open at 6:30 pm.

The Grand Isle Town Recreation Park located on Donaldson Road is open for the summer. It has a baseball and softball field maintained by
YOGI, a newly paved and netted basketball court, a pavilion and picnic tables and a playground. The park also has the beginnings of a nature
trail around the perimeter of the park being constructed by VFW and the Masonic Lodge volunteers. Eventually there will also be a disc golf
course and a few tennis courts. The park is trash in, trash out so make sure to take all your trash with you and clean up after your pets.

The North Hero School board will meet at 6 pm on Tuesday July 7. There will be reports of general information from the superintendent,
and hiring updates and summer information by the principal. The board will discuss the signage policy and the King Fund. The board action
will consist of approval of bills of payment and approval of line of credit. At 7 pm there will be an Act 46 presentation by Steve Dale.
Mandolin, Guitar, and Banjo at Fisk Farm
On Sunday afternoon of July 12, the delightful folk duo of Staber and Chasnoff will be joined by Daryl Smith will perform
at Fisk Farm on Isle La Motte. It would be hard to find a better mandolin player anywhere around than Dick Staber. Dick and his
partner Judith Chasnoff, virtuoso on the guitar, have a pure, traditional folk sound which is a delight to their audiences. They will
be joined by their friend Daryl Smith on banjo. Performances take place at 2, 3 and 4 pm in the Art Barn.
The oil paintings by Rae Newell of Killington and the photographs of Jonathan Hart are on exhibit in the historic Horse and
Carriage Barn and can be enjoyed on Sunday afternoon as well as throughout the week in the Art Barn at Fisk Farm. Rae Newell’s
oils celebrate the essence of Vermont, particularly of agricultural Vermont and compliment the exhibit of photographer Jonathan
Hart whose body of work, known as “Amazing Vermont” has a distinctive painterly quality. The work of these two artists is
particularly striking on the walls of the old wooden barn.

The Alburgh Grievance hearings are scheduled for July 9, 10, and 11 from 9 am to 1 pm.
The Select Board will meet Monday July 13 and Monday July 27 at 7 pm in the Municipal Office.
The Alburgh Town office, located at 1 Main Street, is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and
houses the town clerk and treasurer as well as the assistant town clerk and treasurer. They offer dog licensing,
marriage licenses, DMV renewals, copies of certificates for marriages, births, and deaths that occur within

Blood Drive a Success

SCHOOL BOARD NOTES
The June 24 School Board Meeting began with Isle La Motte resident Janet Soavi presenting
information on several grants which she is interested in writing on behalf of the school. These ranged
from playground and technology to school library revitalization.
The new Superintendent, Barbara Burrington, has signed her contract and begins on July 1. The new
GISU Business Manager, Lynn Carpenter, is working on corrective action to release funds for the ILM
Health Grant to the GISU. Ms. Carpenter also questioned the $250,000 loan which should be paid in
full this year. This will be followed through on.
The principal, Mrs. Rubin, reported on the two grants SWIFT and LIREC. The GISU Business
Manager, Lynn Carpenter, and Mrs. Rubin will meet and review the process for submitting invoices
to ensure that the ILM school gets reimbursed for all expenses. Mrs. Rubin further reported that ILM
does not have Tech Plan or a replacement plan; that the 5 year Maintenance Plan needs to be followed
through on with the new principal; the Summer Program has 20 students enrolled, with Ms. Cobb and
Ms. Walker teaching Literacy in the morning, and Kurt Vallenta teaching science in the afternoon. A
grant has been secured to fund breakfast and lunch. The summer program will need some oversight.
Ms. Rubin suggested that a possibility would be for the new superintendent to move into her office in
ILM to oversee the summer camp program.
Payables of $65,536.79 were approved as was the substitute teacher pay. Motions were made and
approved to allow Chef L. Best to go to Costco once a week while school is in session, approximately
38 times a year; investigate Fresh Food Grant Allocation to GISU; amend Chef L. Best contract as
discussed in executive session, and offer the elementary teaching position to William Fish. A special
meeting to interview principal candidates will be on July 9 at 1 pm.
The next regular meeting of the ILM School Board is scheduled for July 15 at 6 pm. The Board
welcomes community participation. Detailed copies of minutes are available at GISU.org and

GOODSELL RIDGE PRESERVE IS OPEN
The Isle La Motte Preservation Trust,a non-profit organization, announces that the nature and fossil preserves on Isle La Motte are open for visitors.
Owned and managed by the Trust, both preserves are important sites of the Chazy Fossil Reef, the oldest known fossil reef in the history of life on Earth.
They have been designated as National Natural Landmarks by the US Department of the Interior. On the Goodsell Ridge Preserve on Quarry Road, the Visitor Center is now open five days a week. Summer hours are: Wednesday through Friday 1 to 4
pm, Saturday from 10 to 4 pm, Sunday 1 to 3:30 pm. Six Discovery Areas with interpretive signage show examples of representative fossils to be found on
the preserve. The famous outdoor exhibit Walk Through Time, a 4,600 foot trail along which 70 colorful panels depict the 4.6 billion year history of Earth,
has been set up for the second year. There are only three sets of this exhibit in the world, one in Switzerland, one in in California, and the third here on Isle
La Motte. The exhibits have been toured through most of the countries in Europe and South America. The Isle La Motte Preservation Trust is honored to be
the current host and steward of this world class exhibit until 2019. The Fisk Quarry Preserve on West Shore Road is open year round for visitors to explore. At the end of a pedestrian path 600 feet north of the parking
area, a kiosk in English and French tells the geological, human, and ecological story of the quarry.

outings which is maintained under the pavilion at the rec field. A wire brush./ scraper is with the grill. Please take care to clean when you are done so the next neighbor

On July 18 Isle La Motte will be holding its 5K race and ½ mile fun run at Saint Anne’s Shrine.

Island Arts is sponsoring two wonderful classes over the next few weeks. The first is Watercolor. Learn the basics of painting with watercolor with Katya
Andrievskaia. Katya is a local artist with over 8 years of experience with a degree in studio arts from UVM.
No experience is needed for this class and it is open to ages 16 and above. The class will be held on Saturday July 11 and Saturday July 18 from 1 to 4 pm.

Notes: I am happy that law enforcement was able to apprehend the last inmate that escaped from Clinton Correctional three
weeks ago. Sgt. Jay Cook apprehended David Sweat in Franklin County last Sunday. The residents of the Northern Tier can now
relax and enjoy their summer.
There are probably no adequate words to thank law enforcement, support personnel for their efforts during this scary time.
Thank you to the many businesses and organizations that provided food, socks, insect repellent and other necessary provisions
during the duration of this rescue. Thanks to the schools, fire departments, legions and auxiliaries and anyone else who in anyway
helped with lodging or cooking food for the people out in the fields, swamps and woods. Also thanks to the news media for keeping us informed. Now it is back to the drawing board to see what steps can be taken that this incident does not happen again.

CHAMPY COMES TO CHAMPLAIN
A presentation on the Lake Champlain sea
monster by two nationally known experts, will
take place at the Champlain Free Library, Elm
Street. Champlain on July 7, at 7 pm.
Dennis Hall and Katy Elizabeth have been
studying “Champy” for more than 30 years and
are recognized as the leading authorities on the
subject of the elusive monster. Hall has published a
book on the subject, “Champ Quest: The Ultimate
Search” and possesses a number of photographs,
videos, and ultrasounds. Elizabeth is the founder
of “Champ Search”, a group dedicated to the study,
discovery, and protection of the Lake Champlain
monster. She has been featured on the Discovery
Channel and on numerous shows and websites in
a number of countries.
The Champlain History Club will host this joint
appearance. There is no admission charge, and
refreshments will be served. Seating is limited so
attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

ROUSES POINT HISTORY AND
WELCOME CENTER
The Rouses Point History and Welcome Center
will open for the season Wednesday, July 8 with
beautiful new panels displayed throughout the
center depicting the history of our beautiful
village. The center is located in the former D&H
Railroad Station at 68 Pratt Street and will be
open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from
10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each week until October
10th.
This is the second season of operation, which
is managed by the Rouses Point-Champlain
Historical Society. The society is grateful to the
members and volunteers that give so generously
of their time so the center can be open. New
volunteers and members are always welcome and
please contact Pat at 297-6454 or Mary at 2976138 if you wish to volunteer.
It has been a community effort to open this
center, and it is with the generosity of local
residents, former residents and people interested
in keeping the history of our area alive who have
either donated or loaned memorabilia for display.

The Stage Committee works diligently to procure
entertainment for the summer season, and it
is thanks to their hard work of holding raffles
and benefits, as well as soliciting organizations
and businesses, that they are able to once again
present these programs.
FASHION SHOW
There will be a fashion show at the Samuel de
Champlain Center Stage on Saturday, July 18th by
Birch’s Corner Fashion Shop to benefit the stage.
Models will be both local and from Montreal
sporting the latest in fashion. This event will be
held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be
prizes and raffles too with promises to be a fun
time for all.
Lina Birch owner of Birch’s Corner in Mooers
has been very successful with her benefit fashion
shows. She has produced shows with funds
going to the Autistic Group, as well as a benefit,
which raised over $3,000 for the elevator drive for
the senior citizen’s housing in Mooers. She has
worked with the students from NCCS National
Honor Society and brings to the North Country
a spirit of giving.
Donations will be welcomed for the benefit
of the stage, which works so hard to provide
entertainment for the residents of the Northern
Tier.
All performances whether musical,
theatrical or comedy is free for the public to enjoy.
CHAZY PUBLIC LIBRARY
Chazy Public Library has many activities
planned for the summer for both children and
adults. On Saturday, July 11th, at 10:00 a.m. Story

Adaptive Mounted Program at Good Hope Farm will
host our annual Champlain Dressage Schooling Show
as part of the horse show series supported by many
local barns in the Champlain Valley. The show also
serves as a fundraising event for CHAMP.
The show is open to the public and will be held
rain or shine. This is a marvelous opportunity for
people of all ages to watch some very talented local
and regional riders and horses perform. So bring
your favorite folding chair and enjoy this great Island
equestrian event.

“My inspiration comes from the shimmer of the
sun as it reflects off the water, the afterglow of an
exquisite sunset, the daily dance of the clouds, or a
garden flower swaying in the breeze. Each moment
in nature excites my desire to capture a memory.” Sandra Reese
Sandra Reese, a landscape oil and watercolor
painter from South Hero, has been selected to be the
featured artist in this year’s Champlain Islands Art
Organization (CIAO) 2015 Art Show on July 24, 25
and 26.
Sandra discovered her love for painting as a child
and remembers being influenced by her first art
teacher, Rita Boyd of Winooski. After careers as a
She paints for the pure joy of painting. The walls
of her studio read as a travel journal documenting her
travels from the coast of Maine to the canals of Venice.
Much of her work reflects her love of Lake Champlain
and the Champlain Islands that she now calls home.
“The lake inspires me. I can look out my window, and
it’s the same view; but the light and sky are constantly
changing. The pink hues of a morning sunrise and the
gold and yellow afterglow of an exquisite sunset.” To
capture the beauty of the moment, she paints quickly
and lets the paint capture that moment and memory in
time. Her work is expressed in a vibrant impressionistic
style while retaining its representational roots.
Sandra’s shift from watercolors to oils has had a
profound effect on her work. It’s allowed her to achieve
a 3D effect in her work, which she loves. She enjoys
the layering of color and now has the confidence to
work on larger pieces.
Moving her studio into Burlington’s South End
Art District three years ago has changed Sandra
dedication to her art in several ways. It makes her
accountable for producing work. She takes her
painting more seriously; she treats it like a job. (A
fun job she adds!) It provides camaraderie and a link
to other art opportunities. It has brought her work
to a different level because she is painting every day.
Seeing the work of other artists in the shared space is
also very inspiring.
One of Sandra’s greatest joys is when someone
connects with one of her pieces. “A dear friend
recently used one of my paintings on her wedding
invitation; I was very honored. My son Matt has
always been my biggest fan. As a child he secretly took
my watercolor paintings to school for show and tell.
‘Everyone loves them!’ he told me one afternoon. Now
my son’s friends call asking if I will paint a painting for
their mother. It doesn’t get better than that!”
Sandra currently exhibits her work at her studio/
gallery located at Brickwork Art Studios in the
Burlington’s South End Art District (located off

Each year the Assisted Living Federation of America
recognizes and awards individuals who are ideal
representatives of myriad of older adults who live in
assisted living communities. Tara Graham, Executive
Director at The Arbors in Shelburne, nominated a very
special woman who she knew was the ideal recipient
of this award. The woman she nominated was The
Arbors Executive Director of Community Relations
and she is the personified epitome of what it means to
advocate in the most caring way for seniors. In May,
Tara’s nominee, Allyson Sweeney, was awarded the
Assisted Living Federation of America Hero Award at
a special ceremony in Florida.
Allyson grew up in Alburgh and was always known
as the girl who truly cared for everybody, young and
old alike. Her closeness with her own family and
her grandparents inspired Allyson’s connection with
seniors and started her lifetime track of being socially
conscious of others, especially the elderly. Allyson
received her Master’s in Social Work after studying
at Siena College and the University of Vermont, and
worked as Program Manager for Adult Day Program
in Rensselaer, New York. She is currently working to
become a Nursing Home Administrator, volunteers
for the Alzheimer’s Association, is a member of the
Alburgh School Board and is excited to be a new
Alburgh home owner.
Allyson was recently interviewed by Lynn Scott of
the Shelburne News and when asked who her hero was
she answered, “so many people, but mostly my family
and especially my mom. She has always been my true
north. She continues to challenge me and push me
to achieve the things I claim to be impossible.” This
special mom is Mary Sweeney, also of Alburgh. Along
with her close connection with her family, Allyson
has a continued love of Vermont and looks forward
to enjoying her life here near Lake Champlain. Her
future is certainly going to be a bright one and The
Arbors gained a true asset when they hired Allyson.
We know this is not the last time we will hear great
things about Allyson, as she is indeed a gem of the
Champlain Islands.

Alburgh Resident
Receives Hero Award
Registered Nurse, Real Estate Broker and mother of
three sons she found her way back to painting. She
considers herself a full time student of art with a
life long quest to continue to grow as an artist. Over
the years Sandra has studied with many nationally
recognized artists from around the country in both
studio and plein air workshops, including her mentor,
Lisa Beach of Stowe.

license to operate a motor boat in Vermont. Please

Clubhouse on Thursday, July 23. Co-presented by the
Lake Champlain Regional and the Franklin County
Regional Chambers, grab this opportunity to enjoy the
course with colleagues or get paired up to meet new
business contacts in the community and develop new

The Festival of the Islands is coming up on
July 25. If you have things to sell or just want
to clear out the things you never use from the
garage or that gift that Aunt Hilda gave you three
Christmases ago which is still in the wrapper now
is your chance.
During the Festival of the Islands, lots of
visitors tour the Islands, shopping at stores, flea
markets and yard sales looking to have some fun
in the sun in the beautiful Champlain Islands.
You can be a part of it by renting a table at the
St. Amadeus Flea Market on Saturday, July 25.
Tables are available for a rental fee of $15 for the
day, 8 until 2 pm. Inside and outside spaces are
available. There will be a town wide sale going
on in Alburgh and we are sure to attract large
crowds. It will be the place to be for a good time
for all. Won’t you join us?

Festival
of the Islands

This year, the Festival of the Islands will be
held, as it is each year, on the last weekend in July.
There will be no charge for business and nonprofit events to be listed on the Festival Map. We
have experience with the prior years’ maps and
production of them does not require a great deal
of time. We will produce the map and distribute
it for free. Any business or non-profit wishing
to have their sales or special events publicized
may do so by contacting us and letting us know
what they will be offering during the Festival.
In addition, copies of the maps will be available
through email to anyone who wishes to duplicate,
share and distribute it to visitors and friends, thus
supporting our non-profits and local businesses.
With social media developing as it has, this is
both possible and easy.
The other change is based on experience gained
over the last few years. Yard sales, flea markets
and rummage sales remain huge attractions for
people who want bargains, rare finds or merely to
explore on a beautiful drive through the Islands.
So we would like encourage and be able to
mention those types of sales in all of the off Island
advertising that will be done. Last year, Alburgh
held a town-wide sale during the Festival. It was
a huge success. Droves of people, attracted by the
publicity of the Festival, traveled from one place
to another, chatting, shopping and enjoying the
atmosphere created by people meeting people.
Of course, the local businesses benefitted because
our visitors were curious, needed to buy gas
and replenish their strength through food and
beverage.
So if you want your business or non-profit to
be represented on the Festival map which will
be widely publicized, we are asking that you do
three things: Create a special event, let us know
what you are doing so that it can be listed on the
map of the Festival and finally request a map and
share it with your customers through duplication
or posting. If private individuals wish to do a yard
sale during that time to take advantage of all the
visitors please let us know so we have an idea
of the total number of sales and can add that to
the publicity. Streamers may be purchased, as in
other years, to highlight your participation and
draw attention to your sale.

invited to join their friends and neighbors at “The Neighbors” congregate
meals program (Located at the South Hero Congregational Church) or
on a C.I.D.E.R. excursion or shopping trip. The C.I.D.E.R. wheelchair
accessible vans are a safe and convenient way for Grand Isle County
seniors and persons with disabilities to travel. C.I.D.E.R. provides much
more than just medical transportation. Seating is limited and reservations

What’s cooking at “THE NEIGHBORS” in July
Reservations for July can be made (and are most appreciated), by
calling “THE NEIGHBORS” Community Meals Program, (serving elders
and persons with disabilities) at 372-4642 on Mon, Fri, or Fri mornings
8-11am or C.I.D.E.R. at 372-6425, Monday through Friday from 8:00AM
to 4:30PM. Meals are served at noon (unless otherwise noted) on Mondays,
Wednesdays, & Fridays at the South Hero Congregational Church. Home
delivered meals for eligible individuals are available Monday through
Friday south of the drawbridge, and (currently) Tuesdays and Thursdays
north of the drawbridge. Wheelchair-accessible transportation is available
at no cost. A donation of $4 is requested ($3.50 for home delivered meals).

Ensemble

beautiful lawn at the Grand Isle Lake House.
Performing for their fifth consecutive year, the
Vermont Jazz Ensemble opens the 2015 Summer
Concert Series for Island Arts on Sunday, July 12
at 6:30 pm. IA is an all-volunteer organization and
for the past 30 years has donated over $100,000 to
support creative arts scholarships for youth and the
5 schools in Grand Isle County. Your attendance
