A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Gregory Banks
A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Gregory Banks, "The Saint of Soul", is not your average artist. In a time where mediocrity has
become the norm in an ever-changing musing industry, only a few singers shine as true artists. He has opened up for
Multi-Platinum artist Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Mike Jones, and Jazzy Jeff; won a B.E.T. College Tour Competition; has been featured on
many radio stations and local television shows; and was a finalist in Andre Harrell’s Superstar Soul Search Competition. With these
being only some of his variant achievements, Greg Banks continually puts his best foot forward to strive in this industry.
His lyrics have soul moving connotations with a sound that is ever evolving; his music has become an ingenious blend and magical
infusion of soul, funk, rock and R&B, and he is recognized as a prolific crooner of the now. Equipped with one of the most distinctive
styles in the music business; Mr. Banks is bent on taking this world of music forward. With his funk infused melodies, mind grabbing
lyrics and charismatic charm one cannot help but to concede to the strong gravitational pull of his music.
In 2007, Greg Banks career launched with the partnership of Bay area’s artist G-Eazy and the creating of their hit single
“Candy Girl”. Having over 425,000 plays on MySpace, the two created a music video which garnished over 80,000 views on YouTube
and nominated for an mtvU Woody-Award.
In 2009, Greg Banks released his independent debut, The Time is Now, which erupted his buzz as the new “soul” sensation.
Independently, Greg Banks has over 10,000 fans on FB, over 16,000 followers on twitter and gathering thousands of followers on
Instagram daily. More recently Greg Banks connecting with Bay area’s artist G-Eazy yet again for another great song that would
push their careers yet even further ahead. The joined talents and great minds to do an epic remake of classic Dion & The Belmont’s
“Runaround Sue”. In only two and a half months the video has 320,000 plus views, has been mentioned on countless blogs
including Billboard.com, and has now broken over 1 million hits and has reached worldwide recognition.
Growing up the fifth of nine children, being raised by a single mother in some of the worst housing projects in Louisiana, Banks
views his childhood as nothing less than a home and environment of love. The absence of his father due to incarceration left Greg
embracing the tough love of the streets, which helped to create his strength, tenacity and perseverance. The nurturing and
spiritual guidance of his mother helped to lay the foundation for his incredible drive and ambition, further instilling the
understanding...greatness is not built overnight but it takes patience, a strong faith in God and the ability to believe in yourself
when no one else does.
For some the devastation of Hurricane Katrina ruined hope and the possibility to emerge from the drowning culture of New
Orleans. Instead, fighting to maintain that culture and integrity, Banks went on to study at the prestigious Xavier University of
New Orleans. honing his craft and uplifting his mind.
In 2012, with two bags and a dream, Banks moved to NYC to continue the pursuit of his
passion, Music! Shortly after his arrival, he was introduced to his manager and this
partnership sparked the evolution of turning potential into purpose.
Greg Banks has mesmerized audiences throughout NYC and the like, so it's no surprise he
was chosen by Deli Magazine as NYC's best emerging artist. With his amazing body of
musical works & his hit singles ''Your Love'', ''16'' and "Brooklyn Girl" available on iTunes
now , this phenomenon is causing a major buzz across the industry. Yes, Mr. Banks may
remind you of some, but he certainly duplicates none.
However the superiority of Mr. Banks doesn’t stop with his musicality; Greg is truly
deemed a trailblazer, with his effortless ability to blend the fashion worlds of funk
and sophisticated soul. Next up....The Greg Banks Collection....scarves for the
man that are ready to move from “Swagger to Dapper”. Already for sale at Harlem
