2017 School Enrolments
The time of year for securing enrolments in our school
for 2017 has arrived. The school is now very keen to
determine how many spaces are going to be requested in all
grades, but especially new Kindergarten enrolments. It is
hoped that between now and the end of this term we will
be able to create a fairly clear picture of what our classes
will look like and how they will be structured next year.
This is always subject to change given unknown enrolments
and departures that may occur up until the end of Week
2, Term 1, 2017 (known to school’s as our census day) when
the Department of Education determines our final staffing
allocation for the new school year.
The school welcomes enrolment applications being
completed and returned to school so that due processes
and procedures can be undertaken. All local enrolments
are entitled to a placement within our school, whilst ‘non
local’ applications need a different level of consideration.
Early knowledge of all interested enrolments makes it much
easier for the school to successfully prepare for the year
ahead.
At this point in time our school is expecting to operate
with 5 mainstream classes and one integrated MC support
class again in 2017. There will be movement among teachers
across classes, which will be finalised and confirmed closer
to years’ end when our new compositions are finalised.
School Uniform
Students and families are reminded of the school’s
Uniform Policy which was ratified by the P&C Association in
Term 4 last year. The following extracts from the Uniform
Policy are provided to assist all families to comply with the

school’s expectations.

In accordance with the Department of
Education’s Behaviour Code 2015,
students are required to “comply with
the school’s uniform policy or dress
code”.
The school uniform of Woodburn Public
School consists of:
A school shirt (Gold and Navy) with a
school crest
Shorts, Skirts or Skorts (Navy Blue)
A school jumper (Navy Blue)
Tracksuit Pants (Navy Blue)
•
November 2015 – A review of the
school uniform policy was undertaken
by the P&C. This meeting discussed
ongoing concerns over the wearing of
very small and tight fitting bike pants/
tights by some students. The P&C put
forward the following statement:
“The Woodburn Public School P&C
Association does NOT support the
wearing of tight fitting bike pants/
tights or the wearing of denim shorts
as appropriate school dress, nor do
they meet the expectations of our
uniform policy.”
Whilst the P&C sell school jumpers with the
school logo embroidered upon it, parents may
wish to purchase cheaper alternative navy
blue jumpers from other suppliers. As long as
the jumpers are plain and navy in colour then
the school community finds this acceptable.
Please pay attention to the details above
as in recent weeks a variety of coloured
jumpers and school pants have emerged.
Your cooperation with the agreed community
expectations is requested.
Contact Details
A big thank you is extended to all families
who have returned the Family and Emergency
Contact Details update form that went
home last week. Families still to do so are
encouraged to provide this information
as soon as possible. Spare copies can be
downloaded from our school website if
needed.
Your support in this matter is helping ensure
our records are correct. This is important as
the school continues to explore better means
of communicating with all families. Such
options include email and SMS options that
may be more instantaneous than current
procedures. Accurate details are also vitally
important in emergency situations and whilst
we hope they never arise; it is too late to ask
for details when they do.
Until next week…
