It is hard to believe that we have made our
way through the month of January and yet
here we are, in the middle of the Festival
Season and the busiest time of the year for
those of us who follow the GLBTI calendar!
For some of us it means the end of the run of
Public Holidays and getting back into a
routine and for some it means celebrating a
month of a goal we might have meet. For me
then end of January marks the passing of an
event very dear to my heart and a jam packed
Midsumma (which is still in its last week!)
Pride March marked the last day of January
and wow what a way to end a month! This
event celebrated its 21st year in true style
and did not fail to inspire with more than a
thousand rainbows every way you looked,
drag queens and kings, families, support
groups, the dykes on bikes and the biggest
turn out of Victorian Police marching to date!
We took a bus load of 23 joyous members
and friends down the Hume and after a few
famous anti-rain chants the rain subsided and
blue skies appeared. I was lucky enough to
hold the banner for GV Pride again this year
and I cannot describe to you in words how

The Shepparton MS 24 Hour Mega Swim is a
fun relay event for teams of up to 15 people
who raise money based on the laps
completed. Each team has a swimmer in the
water over the entire 24 hours. People of all
ages and abilities can take part, with the team
creating a swimming roster to suit the ability of
each swimmer. Each participant decides
when they would like to swim and for how
long. Some swim for 10 minutes, others swim
for four hours! There is no set formula. Funds
raised support the MS Go for Gold Scholarship

THE DANISH GIRL
Join us for this film screening/fundraiser as part of Shepparton Festival 2016.
All funds raised support Goulburn Valley Pride, Greater Shepparton’s lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer & allies social-support group.
Film Synopsis
In mid-1920s Copenhagen, the portrait artist Gerda
Wegener (Alicia Vikander) asks her husband, popular
landscape artist Einar Wegener (Eddie Redmayne), to stand
in for a female model who was late to come to their flat to
pose for a painting she’s working on. The act of Einar posing
as a female figure unmasks what turns out to be a lifelong
identification on the part of Einar as a female, named Lili
Elbe. This sets off a progression, first tentative and then
irreversible, of leaving behind the identity as Einar, which
has consumed Lili all her life.
Lili and Gerda’s marriage and work evolve as they navigate
Lili’s groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.
