The Camino de Santiago (or "Way of St. James") is an ancient pilgrimage in Spain that has experienced a significant growth in popularity in recent years- especially among Americans. Join fellow parishioners of the CTK Camino Group for an introductory discussion on the Camino and learn why more than 200,000 people are drawn to this pilgrimage each year. Hear stories from those who have embarked on this incredible journey. Open to everyone. Thursday, January 29 from 7-8:30 pm in the CTK Youth Room. To RSVP or if you have questions, email Chris Sanders Christopher_c_Sanders@yahoo.com. JANUARY 25, 2015 January Prayer Intentions Every month Pope Francis announces his monthly prayer intentions, and requests that we include the intentions in our personal prayers. Following Jesus ‒ Men’s Bible Study General Intention The men’s Bible study meets on Tuesday evenings in the Youth Room from 7 8:30 pm. Each week we consider a particular theme relating to Christian discipleship and what the Bible and the Church teach on that theme. This is a great opportunity to draw closer to Jesus through Bible study, prayer, and Godly fellowship with a good group of guys. For more information, contact Paul Ragan at paulsragan@gmail.com. Peace. That those from diverse religious traditions and all people of good will may work together for peace. Stewardship of Treasure How shall I repay the Lord for his goodness to me?” Psalm 116 Missionary Intention Consecrated Life. That in this year dedicated to consecrated life, religious men and women may rediscover the joy of following Christ and strive to serve the poor with zeal. In today’s readings, God, through Jonah’s preaching, causes the people of Nineveh to answer His call, turn away from evil, and repent. In St. Mark’s Gospel, Jesus calls Simon-Peter, Andrew, James and John to be His disciples. They respond immediately, leaving their fishing businesses and families—sacrificing everything to follow the Lord. Their actions were considered radical in Jesus’ day, and also by today’s standards. As disciples striving to embrace stewardship as a way of life, are we, too, willing to sacrifice all to further His kingdom? E-Giving In late 2007 the Cathedral of Christ the King began offering our automated giving program. More than 750 parishioners have come to appreciate the convenience and ease of being able to have their weekly or monthly contributions be transferred electronically from their checking or savings account or credit card directly to the church account. It’s safe, secure and convenient! Give it a try by visiting “Giving” at www.cathedralofchristtheking.org. The flowers on the Mary Altar were given in Thanksgiving for answered prayers by an anonymous donor. Offertory information was unavailable at the time of printing due to the end of year printing schedule. For your convenience, electronic giving is available at www.cathedralofchristtheking.org. 3 CATHEDRAL OF CHRIST THE KING Recreation Adrian Stevens • 404-233-2145 x000 • astevens@ctking.com Updates Health and Wellness for adults with start dates in January and February. Stewardship - Our parishioners are often asking us to verify that they are an “active practicing Catholic.” The question of parishioner status is important because this question comes up in many circumstances such as CTK Coffeehouse Certification as godparents/ sponsors for Baptisms and Confirmation Active parishioner tuition rates in Catholic schools Marriage/Baptism preparation Scheduling of the facilities for services such as Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals Enrolling children in our programs In practice, Parishioner verification is done by looking equally at three criteria: Registration, Regular Mass Attendance, and Financial and Time Support. If you have any questions regarding the parishioner verification process, please contact Pat Laverty at plaverty@ctking.com. Msgr. Frank McNamee encourages you to be an active member of our parish.
