Hello Classmates,
This was our 7th quinquennial (Yes, I had to look it up) class reunion, and we still are finding
enthusiastic classmates to be on the reunion committee and attendees of the events. And as a result, we
keep having better and better events. Scheduling this reunion once again during the Pumpkin Festival
was a big hit for many of the classmates, but for some of the local classmates who regularly volunteer
for various festival events and booths had to juggle things to be able to make it. We’re glad you guys
did!. Once again, there were a number of classmates who had never attended any of our reunions
before this one and a few who hadn’t been to one in many years. Several of those people told us they
had a great time and are looking forward to the next one.
Of course, we all had a wonderful time seeing each other, joking around, updating one another
about life’s journeys, and crying just a bit when we got the bits of bad news such as the passing of a
few more of our classmates . But by and large, the time went far too quickly with not enough time to
spend with everyone and catch up on everything. And of course, We miss you guys that didn’t make it!
Several new faces stepped forward to plan this and, hopefully, future reunions. We welcomed
Cherie Wenninger Wells, Debbie Landis Showalter, Barb Dallinger to the committee! The committee
was a wonderful mix of experience and new enthusiasm. We all worked hard to make this happen and
can’t wait to start planning the –gasp-40th !
We spiced things up a bit this time around by providing some home grown entertainment for the
Friday night get-together at the Optimists’ Cabin. Doug Roberts and Raino Trifonoff put a little band
together along with a friend of theirs, Mike Yocum, and Angie Roecker Haven’s son Ryan to play a
little music from our era. It turns out that classmate or two also play an instrument and might just have
to show us what they can do next time around!
Seems like every reunion, some new technology comes to life to help us out. In 1981 for our first
reunion, we had electric typewriters, in 1986, we had the first computers with dot-matrix printers. By
1991 we had affordable color printers, in1996 many of us had cell phones and the Internet, in 2001 the
Internet was really coming to life, and by 2006, we had our own website. Well, in 2011 we now have
Facebook, and over 100 of our classmates are in the class group. This is great for us, because it allows
us to message everyone for upcoming events and if something important comes along that we think
everyone would like to know, we can pass that along easily. It’s also good, because many people are
giving up their land line phones and are just using cell phones. That’s great, but it makes it a little
harder to find people because cell phones are virtually all unlisted in the phone book, and not generally
available on the internet as well. Also, many of you change your email addresses – sometimes without
choice, like when Insight and Verizon left town for example. But your Facebook account probably
won’t ever change, and face it, many people check their Facebook account more often than they do
their email! The point is that we, the reunion committee, would like you to keep in mind that the
hardest part of our job is finding out where everyone is every five years. Please help us out and keep us
informed if you move or somehow make it hard to find you! If there is anything we can do until the
next reunion, please “give us a shout,” or at least send an email!

My family has lived in four different states during the past 31 years. We have been living in Lincoln,
Nebraska—Big Red country—for the past five years. (We’re very excited that Nebraska joined the
Big Ten). My husband owns a small electrical contracting business in Lincoln, and I work part-time in
the office. Our daughters have grown up. Kelcie is a recent business graduate of The University of
Iowa, and Kylie is a sophomore hospitality management major at Kansas State University. We all love
to take family vacations and this year we spent a week in Palm Desert, CA to get away from the
Nebraska winter. In May, we went back to Hilton Head Island, SC where we had vacationed quite a
bit when the girls were young. One of my favorite activities is playing tennis, and I play several times
a week with a group of friends so it’s a fun social time as well as some exercise. I’m excited to be able
to attend the reunion. I haven’t been able to make it back for the last two so it will be fun to see
everyone again.

years of a happy marriage. I have worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 28 years. I
played “fast-pitch” softball till I was 48 years old. I also play pool in state and national tournaments. I

I have lived in Houston, TX for the last 28 years. Prior to that, I lived in Detroit, MI and I attended
college at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. I teach 7th grade English and will begin my 14th
year this September. Regrettably, that is why Mike and I can’t attend the reunion. In the spring of
2009 my life dramatically changed for the better. I reunited with my junior high and senior high
school sweetheart, Michael Fuller. We connected through classmates.com. He literally dropped
everything to come to Texas to be with me. We are so fortunate to have a second chance at true
happiness. This past July we made the trip back to Illinois to make it official – FINALLY. We were
married July 15. Michael has introduced me to the world of motorcycle riding and I love sitting
behind him on our Honda Goldwing. Although it has taken a long 35 years, Michael and I have finally
come full circle.

Finally made the decision in 2006 to open my own event florist in 2006. Scary but very successful. In
3 years time, we've been fortunate to do many high profile events in Central Illinois including one for a
sitting US President and a private dinner party for a former First Lady. Have a lovely 3 story Arts and
Crafts home off of Moss Avenue. I'm a very fortunate woman that's for sure. Have started doing some
international travel including traveling the entire coast of Iceland. Santiago next I think!

fans and go to as many games as possible, including a trip each year to spring training in Florida. We

I joined the Army after high school and trained as a medical specialist/operating room tech. I met and
married Ricky July 26, 1977. I got out of the service when our oldest was born. I’ve had a variety of
jobs over the years and moved a lot. We moved to Colorado 7 years ago and love it. I’ve had my own
business for about 12 years, and love the flexibility it provides. Ricky had odd days off, and we like to
spend it hiking, camping, and traveling in the RV. We are fortunate to have our daughter and her
family in Western Colorado and love to spend time with them. We have both mountain and desert in
our area, and we try to take advantage of what nature has to offer. We’ve recently moved (again!) to
be closer to the hospital Ricky works in, giving us even more time to do the things we love. If anyone
is ever in the area, look us up and we’ll give you the grand tour. There’s a lot of beauty in the area,
and probably a couple dozen local wineries.

Graduated from ICC and Bradley with a Mechanical Engineering degree. Married the love of my life,
Joan Mooberry, in 1979. Have been employed by General Power Construction C. in Peoria for 34
years. Joan and I have been blessed with 5 boys. We have really enjoyed watching them grow up and
following their activities and adventures. We have been fortunate to be able to spend a great deal of
time traveling to their baseball games. They have played in many places all over Illinois, Indiana,
Arizona, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Texas, Missouri, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. We have had a lot of
fun making long-lasting friendships with many of their teammate’s parents and families. We are active
members of First Mennonite Church of Morton. Everyone in our entire family, except for one
renegade daughter-in-law, is a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. We try to vacation some place far south
in the winter and go fishing in Canada or Minnesota in the summer. We have five grandchildren.

I've spent the past 20 years at Illinois State University. I currently work "Making Redbird Moments" as
the Coordinator of Programming here. Basically, I oversee the Welcome Week Orientation events in
the Fall, the student events (concerts, Homecoming, festivals, movies and the like)throughout the year
and coordinate our University Commencement activities in December and May. I'm also on the
Friends of the Arts board with the College of Fine Arts helping them with their special events. I love
living in Normal and being a part of our campus community. Prior to that, I taught Kindergarten in St.
Louis for 5 years and worked at Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Louis Unit for 6. A great deal of
my volunteer time is spent working with LGBT youth and human rights organizations. I'm probably
the happiest when I'm in the kitchen 'cause I love to cook and bake. I still play the piano and flute, but
always seem to wish I had more time to do so. Those rare!
quiet moments at home are spent with my very patient girlfriend who puts up with all the crazy
aspects and schedule of my life for some reason.

Graduated from Olivet Nazarene College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Worked 3 ½ years in
Chicago, mostly as a pediatric nurse. Moved to the Middle East where I studied Arabic and worked in
Saudi Arabia. Met my husband-to-be while he was in Egypt. We lived there and the United Arab
Emirates, then more recently in Lebanon where my husband taught English. We had 4 daughters
during those years. We spent 8 years in Morton between our time in the UAE and Lebanon. Our
daughters put down some emotional ties to Morton because of those 8 years, but also dream of
traveling in their future. We have returned to Morton for 2 years while my husband studies at Illinois
State University for a PhD. and are planning to return to Beirut, Lebanon in 2012—as long as John can
get his job back over there, and things stay calm in the Middle East. It’s surreal to me while in Morton

and he just retired after 35 years in the Teamsters Union and yes, he will still be working. My
daughter, Melissa, lives in Portland, OR. She is single, a world traveler, and enjoys life to the fullest.
My son, Adam, lives in Kansas City and is a missionary. He loves the Lord and devotes his life by

Since high school I was busy with two children and working. Divorced after twelve years I never
remarried until July 15th, 2011. Marsha connected with me in 2009 via classmates.com. I waited 35
years for that day. Graduated from college when turned forty thanks to State Farm Insurance. I have
been a (motorcycle) rider since high school and now own a 2000 Honda Valkyrie and a 2001 Honda
Goldwing. Marsha and I are taking as many trips as we are able to even with the blistering heat in
Texas. She is my true biker lady. I only hope Marsha and I are able to live another 35 years that I

Lived in Texas for 22 years. Moved back in 2006 and bought our first house. It was built in 1906 and
has lovely woodwork, pocket doors, etc. While in pretty good shape it needs a little work, so we
"slowly" doing minor renovations. We found out we are not as young as we used to be, LOL. We both
love the outdoors and enjoy more sweat equity in our yard and garden. Every year, we have less grass
and more flower beds. It was so hot in Texas we never could grow the type of flowers and such that we
now do. We were never blessed with kids of our own but we have always had dogs and a few cats
along the way. The neighboorhood kids love to visit and we enjoy having them. They even help us
garden sometimes. It keeps them busy and us young!

After graduating from ISU, I spent 17 years in Illinois working at several places in the accounting
field. In 1997, I moved to Baltimore and joined Curtis Engine where I am part owner and in charge of
the sales area and operations. In 2001, my life changed dramatically when I got back in touch with
Wendy Perrow (as a result of the 2001 class reunion booklet). Amazingly, we started to date and got
married in 2003 in Washington, DC. Wendy and I have traveled together all over the USA, Europe,
and Africa. Wendy is thrilled to be a grandma to my oldest son’s daughter and my second son’s wife
is expecting in November. I like being a grandfather, too. I still play competitive softball, 100+ games
per year, in the mid-Atlantic area, go to Orioles and Ravens games and follow the Cardinals closely.

We moved in 2007 toWestport, CT. Great town. I managed derivatives for Genworth Financial and
dealt with the financial crisis and Lehman bankruptcy first hand. Many life lessons learned. In 2010 i
was recruited by Aegon to run their derivative globally. It's been interesting and we travel a lot
internationally as a family. Last year we went to Denmark, Germany, and the Nethlands. Currently we
are planning a trip to Japan, China, and India in conjunction with my work. We moved toAnnapolis
MD but are planning to get a house in Baltimore in the Johns Hopkins area and keep a summer house

It has been an exciting time since graduating from MHS. My career has kept me moving since
graduation and Merck transferred me nine times in fourteen years. I was fortunate to live and work in
Chicago, Los Angeles, England, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Japan, China, Mexico,
Philadelphia, New Jersey, and now Baltimore. One of the best things to happen to me since graduating
was marrying Paul Koch from Morton! We had a wonderful honeymoon where we went on safari in
Africa and have been living in an historical home in Baltimore since we were married in 2003 in
Washington, DC.
One of my joys this last year was becoming a grandmother to Madison Koch. Currently I am leading a
biotech company that is working on a new medicine for patients with celiac disease here in Baltimore.
We love to have friends visit us here and have been thrilled to have Lisa and Kevin Moser, Raino and
Karen Trifonoff, Tom and Cindy Zobrist, Gib Rapp, Patti Vance, Joan Martin, Connie Stephens, John

My motto is: “I don’t know how I ever had time for a job” It’s true. If you have any imagination at all,
you will find plenty of things to do when you retire. Karen and I worked as a fencing instructor and
Camp counselor, respectively for much of the summers of 2008 and 2009. We do travel quite a bit and
split the rest of the time between St. Louis and Morton. So far since the last reunion, we have travelled
to Europe, South America, Canada, Belize, Costa Rica, Mexico, and put over 100,000 miles on our car
travelling to some terrific places in the U.S. and Canada. We have plenty of time now to visit all those
friends and family scattered about the globe, too. I STILL love playing the guitar, and STILL listen to
Rock 'n Roll at obnoxious volume levels. That will never stop. The one bad thing that happened is that
my mom passed away, so many of the links to the past are now gone. When I retired, I bought some
very nice camera equipment, and Travel Photography has become a hobby. I have taken over 60,000
photos with my now not-so new equipment. 
