EMCP 2014 ORIENTATION DAY www.carleton.ca/emcp WELCOME! W e are delighted that you have chosen Carleton University for an enrichment program this year. Throughout its thirty-three year history, the EMCP has given thousands of students a chance to experience learning in a post-secondary setting. As well, this unique event has given us the opportunity to showcase Carleton’s academic programs and facilities. Start the week at Carleton University by meeting your instructor and classmates! On Sunday May 4, 2014 at 1pm, 2pm, or 3pm sessions, we invite you to join us on campus for the Enrichment MiniCourses Program (EMCP) Orientation day. Students and parents will meet outside the TORY QUAD area and will be escorted to their respective classroom for an orientation session. Please make note of your orientation time: NOTE: The parking pass that you’ve placed on your dashboard (letter) on Sunday is only good on the Orientation day. Parents and students will be expected to pay for parking during the week. Please note: scooters, skateboards & roller blades ARE NOT PERMITTED ON CAMPUS. For courses 200 - 218, your orientation session is at 1pm. For courses 219 - 236, your orientation session is at 2pm. For courses 237 - 257, your orientation session is at 3pm. ORIENTATION AGENDA Please note; in case of inclement weather, we will meet in the UniCenter “Galleria.” 1. Discover Carleton’s learning environment! We are delighted to introduce you to our excellent academic programs offered in a friendly, informal atmosphere of the EMCP. We want you to feel at home and part of Carleton’s community. 2. 3. 4. 5. During your week at Carleton, you will have a chance to explore and enjoy the University and its beautiful surroundings. To make your EMCP week memorable, each student will receive a commemorative EMCP 2014 Carleton T-shirt. On Wednesday at noon, there will be activities held in the UniCentre Galleria. We’ll draw prizes that include Carleton collectibles and souvenirs. Finally, a certificate will be provided to all students who successfully completed the EMCP ‘14 week. 6. Scholarships are also presented annually to former EMCP students. Each student who attends a mini-course at Carleton is ELIGIBLE to apply, and COULD qualify for one of the four $1,000 scholarship upon admission to the University in their first year of studies.
