The HR Admin / Recruitment Services is a busy department in the Trust, but ensures a high standard of

Safer Recruitment To Prevent Illegal Working & Ensure Patient Safety
The intention of the Trust is to ensure that the required pre-employment checks are made in accordance with
legislation and best practice.

NHS regulations require that any member of staff working unsupervised with vulnerable adults or children
must be CRB checked. As an organisation using the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure Service to
assess applicants’ suitability for positions of trust, the Trust endeavours to comply fully with the CRB Code of
Practice and undertakes to treat all applicants for positions fairly. It undertakes not to discriminate unfairly
against any subject of a Disclosure on the basis of conviction or other information revealed.
The Criminal Records Bureau has two specific types of Disclosure – Enhanced and Standard. The Trust uses
the Standard levels of Disclosure except for midwives or posts working with children. POCA (Protection of
Children’s Act) checks are carried out for regulated childcare positions.

Initiatives - Working with Jobcentre Plus and partners
Bi Monthly Jobs Shop
A Bi Monthly Jobs Shop is held on the last Friday in January, March, May, July, September and November.
Vacancies within the Trust are promoted and job seekers can apply for advertised posts on the day. Advice is
provided to those completing application forms to ensure customers have the best possible outcome. NHS
careers information is also available for those just starting out in the jobs world. Jobcentre Plus advisors
attend and provide advice to customers in relation to benefits and getting back to work and are also able to
explain training opportunities available locally. NHS Professionals, a Clinical Support Worker representative
and members of the Facilities Team promoting the Facilities Bank also attend. The Jobs Shop has been
running since 2003 and has been a successful initiative supporting the local labour market.
Clinical Support Worker Pre Employment Training
The aim of the course is to induct staff safely into the organisation and focus on providing the basic skills
required to ensure the patient receives high quality care. The course will form the basis of a journey of
learning and development at the start of a career within the Trust. The new format training programme has
been running since Spring and is proving and effective way of providing opportunities for those interested in a
caring role whilst ensuring that new employees enter the organisation with the skills required to contribute to

Work Preparation Programme
Work preparation allows Jobcentre plus customers with a disability and/or health condition to gain valuable in
work experience whilst remaining on their benefits by undertaking a 6 week work placement which enables
them to:1.

try a new career direction because of the limitations imposed by a disability and/or health condition
build and develop in work behaviours and skills to further their job search
obtain a reference and current entry for their CV.
Since our first placement started we have successfully moved jobcentre health restricted customers into work,
within the Trust , Salford City Council, Salford Primary Care Trust and Greater Manchester Police.
The Trust will continue to work with Jobcentre Plus and offer these valuable placements to customers to help

maternity leave; details of services offering support to carers.

The Dermatology Centre provides specialist Dermatology services for Greater Manchester and
also provides a number of supra-regional services.
We are looking for a Specialist Nurse to assist in this established service which provides health
care to people with acute and chronic skin conditions.
Working in conjunction with an established Band 7 Specialist Nurse and the rest of the
Dermatology team, the emphasis will be very much on supporting and monitoring patients on
disease modifying medication, including biological therapies, under the guidance of consultant
Dermatologists. You will be responsible for providing education, advice and support to empower
patients to manage their own conditions effectively, thereby improving quality of life. This includes
acting as a resource and support for local GPs and Community Nurses.
For this high profile and challenging role a specialist interest in and knowledge of dermatology is
required. You will be a highly motivated, self-managing nurse, with the drive and enthusiasm to
continue to develop the Dermatology Nursing Service. An ENB 998 or equivalent mentorship
qualification is essential. In addition, you will need to demonstrate a track record of specialist
dermatological skills, and personal and professional development. A nurse prescribing qualification
would be very desirable but candidates, who are not already nurse-prescribers, must be able and
willing to work towards achieving this.
Experience of project management would be an advantage, although you will need to show that
you can successfully deliver nursing services as well as gather, record and evaluate information
effectively. Excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to influence patients to
change and manage their conditions effectively, are also essential.
You will be expected to participate in the management of the unit, assist in the appraisal process
and make a significant contribution to the Clinical Governance agenda.
To enter a Band 7, you will need to demonstrate previous experience of working as a specialist
nurse, delivering nurse-led services at Band 6 or 7. To enter at Band 6 you will have significant
clinical experience in Dermatology.
Applicants who have no previous experience with
drug/biologics monitoring will be recruited at band 6 with a view to progressing to band 7 after a
minimum 6 month training period and achievement of agreed competencies.

The spinal surgery clinical department within the Greater Manchester Neurosciences Centre

experience in the filed of spinal surgery.
Applicants will have full registration with the GMC and at least 3 years full time hospital experience
at SHO level or higher plus some experience as orthopaedic registrar with a level of spinal

A Senior Clinical Fellow is required to join our multidisciplinary team within the Intensive Care Unit
(ICU) at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust.
This progressive tertiary referral mixed neuroscience/general Intensive Care Unit, has around 800
admissions a year to 17 level 3 beds. The 14 strong consultants include a Senior Lecturer in
Intensive Care Medicine at the University of Manchester, the Regional Advisor in ICM for the North
West Deanery and the Regional Advisor for the North West School of Anaesthesia.
Fourteen consultants provide a consultant led service to the patients on the ICU. They are helped
by experienced and highly skilled nursing staff, and a multi-disciplinary team of trainee doctors.
The trainee medical staff compliment includes Foundation Year 2 and ACCS doctors. In addition,
the unit provides training for eight more senior trainees (StR and Clinical Fellow Grade).
The job would afford the candidate clinical exposure to a broad case mix including Neuroscience
patients, Intestinal failure patients and renal failure patients as well as a general ICU case mix. In
addition, we will support a suitable candidate to deliver a part-time MPhil degree by research with
one of the Trust’s higher education partners in a subject relevant to the research portfolio of our
ICU.
This position would allow ample opportunities to attend local and regional educational activities in
both Intensive care medicine and parent specialty. The ICU runs a fully accredited training
programme which successful candidates would participate in including ongoing appraisal.
Previous experience of ICU is essential.

Haematology team at SRFT. The post has been created to support the expanding Haematology
service at a time when major developments are taking place in the region. This includes the
designation of SRFT as the centre for BCSH level 2 care for the NW Sector of the Greater

unit with isolation rooms and a Chemotherapy day unit both staffed by teams of appropriately
trained nurses. Plans for a purpose built ward are ongoing. Applicants should have experience in
