The company also operates nine distribution centers that are each over 900,000 SF. Family Dollar targets women shopping for a family earning less than $40,000 a year. Consumables (food, health, beauty aids, and household items) account for about two-thirds of sales. Family Dollar also sells apparel, shoes, and linens. For the fiscal year ending August, 2014, sales were $10.49 billion, net income was $284 million, and net worth was $1.67 billion. In January 2015, Family Dollar shareholders approved being bought by Dollar Tree Inc. The new merger plans to keep both brands and operate both separate dollar store models and will probably take effect in May. FAMILY DOLLAR | 7 Location & Demos ABOUT CEDARTOWN, GA Cedartown is the county seat of Polk County and the principal city of the Cedartown Micropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 9,750. The Cedartown Commercial Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Due to the expansion of U.S. Highway 27, Cedartown is easily connected to nearby cities such as Atlanta, Birmingham, and Chattanooga.
