CLOUD – HEALTH SERVICES Construction of new health services unit • Serves the needs of approximately 1,000 offenders (built when facility housed 600 offenders) • Comprehensive medical exam Security staff and door controls in unprotected area space needed to perform screenings on every offender coming in to the DOC • Security, privacy and size needs Department of Corrections | 10 ST. CLOUD – INTAKE Renovate existing space for new intake unit • Approximately 700 offenders processed in and out each month in an over-crowded space • Location, size and layout are inadequate, poorly designed and unsafe for staff St. Cloud intake area Department of Corrections | 11 ST. CLOUD - INTAKE Numbers in intake cells can vary from 3 to 30 offenders at any one time Department of Corrections | 12 ST. CLOUD – LOADING DOCK Currently • Some trucks too large to fit in truck sally port, creating security risk • Currently, all trucks must enter the secure perimeter Construction of a secure receiving center would: • Eliminate need for public delivery trucks to enter secure perimeter • Allow staff to search product before it enters facility Department of Corrections | 13 STILLWATER – WELL & WATER TREATMENT Goals Install new well, replace piping and add building to house water treatment equipment $3.391 million • Avoid water service interruptions that would force the facility to close and move 1,600 prisoners to other locations • Reduce water treatment costs and energy consumption • Comply with health regulations Department of Corrections | 14 STILLWATER – WELL & WATER TREATMENT • • Health authorities asked DOC to stop using well more than 10 years ago Primary well is inadequate to provide fire protection Department of Corrections | 15 Questions?
