Blue Strawberry Christmas Newsletter 2014
December 2014
We can't believe how quickly 2014 has flown by and as we write our final newsletter of the year, we have had time
to reflect on the wonderful events where we have provided our delicious food - we have even included a photo
gallery of our highlights. Thank you all for your continued support, we can't wait to see what 2015 brings! Happy
Christmas from all of us at Blue Strawberry and Table Talk!
A MEXICAN NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM
The Mexican Tourism Board, in association with Latin America's 50 Best Restaurant Awards, celebrated the growing
partnership between the UK and Mexico by holding an evening of gastronomic delights at the spectacular Natural
History Museum. Five of the best chefs in Mexico, including Elena Reygadas who was named Latin America's best female
chef, joined our team in the kitchen to create a spectacular menu which included suckling pig, fried black bean cornball
and ant egg earth caviar. On the night, each chef showcased the finest dishes from their restaurants in Mexico whilst
Table Talk served bespoke Mexican inspired cocktails such as a 'Kumquat May' with Mezcal and a Hibiscus Margarita
alongside a selection of canapés from our own Autumn Winter menu.
A COUTURE EVENING AT ST PAUL'S CATHEDRAL
Couturier Anna Valentine brought her designer's eye to a fundraising dinner at St Paul's Cathedral in aid of cancer
charity, Maggie's. Maggie's offers free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and
friends. Built in the grounds of specialist NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie's Centres are warm and welcoming places,
designed by great architects like Zaha Hadid, Richard Rogers and Norman Foster, whose expertise and experience
deliver the calm, uplifting environments that are so important to the people who visit and work in the Centres. Anna
Valentine designed the look of the room using neutral colours to create a tranquil and ethereal space to mirror the
environment that Maggie's provides for all its visitors. Anna's most high profile client, The Duchess of Cornwall, was the
guest of honour while broadcaster and author Jeremy Paxman, actors Dominic West and Simon Callow, actresses
Gwendoline Christie and Cherie Lunghi and Maggie's Patron, TV presenter and actress Janet Ellis gave readings in the
preceding carol concert. Michelin starred chef Hélène Darroze worked alongside the Table Talk chefs to produce a menu
she designed specifically for the event.
THE GAME & WILDLIFE CONSERVATION TRUST ANNUAL BALL
The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust held their annual fundraising ball at Banqueting House. The evening
commenced with a reception in the Undercroft where guests enjoyed a selection of Blue Strawberry canapés as well as
oysters from the Oyster Meister and cocktails from Sipsmith Gin. A two course dinner of venison and decadent chocolate
fondant was served in the Rubens Room before a live auction.
#PANDORAwishes
Table Talk have been on the road with Pandora jewellery to launch their #PANDORAwishes campaign. We travelled to
Pandora stores across the UK with celebrity couples Louise and Jamie Redknapp and Marvin and Rochelle Humes and
best friends Rick Edwards and Jameela Jamil to help Pandora promote the new Wish List feature on their website. There
were plenty of familiar faces in attendance at the three events including Mel B, Abbey Clancy, Thom Evans and Jaime
Winstone and we kept them fed and watered with pink champagne, a pick'n'mix stand and of course some tasty canapés!
BLENHEIM PALACE
Blue Strawberry were delighted to cater their first event at the stunning Blenheim Palace. The evening began with a
drinks reception in the Saloon which was accompanied by a beautiful performance from the Blenheim Palace Choir
which also gave guests the opportunity to view a visiting exhibition from world renowned contemporary artist Ai Weiwei.
Dinner was served in the Long Library and was hosted by the Duke of Marlborough. We served a sumptuous three course
dinner to 200 guests on a single table that stretched the length of the Long Gallery. Guests retired to the Saloon, which
had been transformed into a lounge area with sofas and armchairs, for port and a selection of cheeses.
ALLEN JONES OPENING NIGHT
The Royal Academy of Arts is exhibiting the work of British pop artist Allen Jones and we were delighted to be chosen
to cater the opening night. Over 500 guests attended the reception, held at Burlington Gardens in the Royal Academy,
to view the exhibition which spans the artist's entire career. After the main reception we served an intimate dinner to 55
guests including Jones himself. Guests dined on a main course of roast pheasant with a fondue of bacon and Savoy
cabbage, tarte tatin of celeriac and pear with a port jus.
WINTER WONDERLAND
One Marylebone was filled with twinkling festive spirit with a little help from Blue Strawberry and Wonderland Events.
Guests arrived at their Christmas party to be greeted with Blue Strawberry signature cocktails which included a Ginger
and Ginseng Sling with Kamm & Sons, cloudy apple juice, rhubarb cordial, lemon and fresh ginger root as well as a
Garden of Eden with Williams gin, elderflower liqueur, damson jam, mint and lemon. When dinner was announced
guests moved downstairs for a traditional Christmas dinner of roast bronze Turkey ballotine and a procession of
usherette trays with a plethora of mini desserts. After dinner, drinks and a DJ kept the party going well into the night!
THE WOOD AWARDS
The Wood Awards 2014 was held at The Carpenters Hall and attended by over 200 leading architects, furniture
designers, craftsmen, engineers and representatives from the timber trade. The winners were announced while guests
savoured Table Talk canapés and admired a collection of nominated architectural projects including the Tower of
London drawbridge. A host of projects were being recognised with awards for restoration, new design and contemporary
furniture.
THE GOSH SNOW BALL
The annual Great Ormond Street Hospital Snow Ball was held this year at the Royal National Hotel. We were absolutely
thrilled to be invited to help the children decorate cupcakes with a few other familiar faces such as Martha and Richard
from the Great British Bake Off and our very own Food Designer and Professional Masterchef winner Keri-Jane Moss.
THE NORDOFF ROBBINS CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE
For over 15 years Blue Strawberry has been pleased to support the Nordoff Robbins Christmas Carol Service. This year
Rebecca Ferguson touched peoples hearts with her smooth husky voice when she sang to over 400 people at St. Lukes
Church in Chelsea. We served mulled wine and mince pies after the concert to a star studded audience including Bill
Nighy, Dame Eileen Atkins, along with Britain's Got Talent finalists Jack Pack.
