Sessions were held at the local campus of Wiregrass Ga Tech and focused on activities that promoted personal discovery, asset development, and social responsibility. Students were visited by community volunteers who spoke on topics ranging from health and well being, to history, music, and international culture. We learned, we laughed, we got to know each other better. We knew we had done a good job motivating and mentoring these kids when they all asked if they could do it again next year. One camper said, “I’m actually sad when I wake up and it’s not a camp day.” From adversity to advocating, Catalyst campers learn about themselves & the world Some of the best memories made during camp were from our field trips. We visited the Andersonville National Historic Site and the POW Museum. We also toured habitat for Humanity’s Global Village in Americus, Ga and learned about living conditions throughout the world. In a second trip we met the rescued animals at Noah’s Ark of Locust Grove, Ga. Finally, after an unexpected detour due to tour bus problems, we bowled the afternoon away in Macon, Ga.
