s 2013 u mm r e Marge s ’ gallery shop at BAYarts Original * Handmade Local * Thanks to a generous gift from Joe and Deb Conway and help from dozens of volunteers BAYarts Shop has an all new look! Joe and Deb’s gift is in memory of Joe’s mother, Marge, mother of 9, grandmother of 30 and great-grandmother of 15 and counting. Marge loved to shop and kept a stash of items on hand in a spare room, when someone needed a gift, they would check “Marge’s Shop,” so what a fitting way to carry on the tradition? “Marge’s Gallery Shop at BAYarts” is better and brighter and will continue to carry the very best of local art year ‘round. A special thanks to Bay Men’s Club, Gertz Builders, Ron Rickard, Diana Brewer,Mark Lapczenski and BAYarts volunteers for being part of this labor of love. Watch for special artist events throughout the year. www.bayarts.net/shop The mission of BAYarts is to provide a welcoming lakeside environment to stimulate, encourage and support professional and aspiring artists of all ages through collaboration, education & exhibition. In this workshop, Stanka will share a method she uses to begin many of her paintings, the grisaille underpainting. This is a variation of the age old method. We begin with a burnt sienna toned panel, and paint the portrait using only raw umber and white. Color is gradually added in transparent glazes, as well as more opaque scumbling and impasto. This method gives a stark realism to the portraits’ beginning, which can then be changed in subsequent layers, if so desired. www.stankakordic.com ______________________________________________ Saturday/Sunday 10:00 am - 4:30 pm | July 20-21 (weekend) member $225 non-member $240 ______________________________________________ to Your Toolbox s up p ly li st s avai lab le at re g i st rat io n Unfolding the Branches: Oil Painting the Figure & Face with Personality & Grace with Judy Takacs - This unique workshop will stress gesture and expression of the nude human form using a live model, along with focusing on the portrait aspect of figure painting.
