Official Corporate Newsletter of
PR GAZ HOLDINGS, INC.
February 2010
2010 promises to be
an exciting year
The year of the metal tiger will be a big,
bold year. Nothing will be done on a small,
timid scale. Everything, good and bad,
can and will be carried to extremes.
Fortunes can be made and lost. If you
take a chance, gamble for high stakes, but
understand that the odds too.
The forceful and vigorous Tiger year
can also be used to inject new life and
vitality into lukewarm and drab or
weakening industries. It will likewise be a
time for massive change, for the
introduction of new and bold, especially
highly groundbreaking, ideas.
The fiery heat of the Tiger’s year will
no doubt touch everyone’s life. In spite of
its flaming aspects, we must realize that
it could have a cleansing effect. Just as
intense heat is necessary to extract
precious metals from their ores, so the
Tiger year can bring out the best in us—
those who face up to the challenges, their
character will be strengthened and “forged
in fire”.
As gold is related to metal and money,
people who like to talk about wealth will
say that 2010 is a Golden Tiger year. This
will be an auspicious time to make
investments. The tiger is a symbol of
power, authority and dominance. This
kind of personality is good for the
leadership and organizations aiming to
take the lead. This may just be another
good year for PR Gaz.

PR Gaz unveils new logo
PR Gaz welcomes 2010 with the unveiling of a
new corporate logo and brand identity, a move
that is part of the LPG company’s vision of
gaining top position in the local market.
The new logo incorporates hues of the
company’s traditional red and blue
colors. The design also introduces
a spherical shaped symbol that
forms the letter “P” on the outside
and a visible “R” on the negative
space within, the symbol
represents a well-rounded
company that promotes
oneness and harmony. At the
core of the logo is a flame. The
flame is a symbol of energy,
associated with intelligence
and stability and represents
the organization’s passion
and zeal.
The new logo also bears a
modern treatment of the
corporation’s initials, and reflects
the image of a dynamic company
that is truly focused on providing
quality products and services and able to
meet the emerging needs of the times.
“Our new logo reflects the ongoing
development of PR Gaz as we make strides in
growing our business for the benefit of our
consumers, retail partners, and franchisees,”
said Nelson Par, the company’s chairman and
chief executive officer. “Based on our strong
momentum coming out of the previous year,
as well as the implementation of the initial
phase of our ‘500 in 5 vision’ of opening a
sizeable number new stores and setting into
motion a number of new market initiatives over
the coming years, we believe that 2010 will be a
banner year for PR Gaz and the
millions of consumer we’re so
privileged to serve each year. We also
expect this year to set our aspirations
in to high gear as we begin fulfilling
and putting into motion our
mission objectives”
One objective the new logo
achieves is increased visibility
compared to the logo it replaces.
The original logo was designed
at the inception of the PR Gaz in
2001. The redesigned visual
identity of the PR Gaz brand aims
to not only raise effective
awareness of the product, but
also assist in expressing the
company’s mission and philosophy
to the customers.
In view of the change in logo
design, all product containers, vehicle
decals, corporate insignias and other materials
will be updated. PR Gaz will also be changing
over all its operational collateral materials
while PR Gaz Haus outlets will begin adopting
a new store signage. The horizontal graphic
design of the logo has likewise been
incorporated in the PR Gazette and debuts on
this issue of the newsletter.
Five new company-owned stores
open in NCR, more planned for 2010
The plan to set up more stores in Metro Manila this
year is now underway with five new PR Gaz Haus
outlets opening recently in various locations in the
region. The new outlets are all company-owned.
Of the five new stores, three are located in
Novaliches, Quezon City, namely: Novaliches-1 in
Zabarte, North Olympus Subdivision; Novaliches-2
in Barangay Gulod, Quirino Highway; and
Novaliches-3 in Barangay San Agustin. The other
two stores are in Camarin, Caloocan City, designated
as Caloocan-2 branch; and in Barangay Pinagbuhatan
in Pasig City, designated as Pasig-3 branch. T o
date, the new locations bring the tally in Metro Manila
to 20 outlets—14 of which are company-run, while
the rest are franchises.
Last year, PR Gaz chairman and chief executive
officer Nelson Par announced that at least 60 company
stores will be added to the PR Gaz Haus network in
Metro Manila in 2010. This, he said, will be the initial
phase of the plan to expand the PR Gaz chain in
Luzon over a five-year period as outlined in the
company’s redefined mission-vision statement. PR
Gaz intends to have 300 outlets by 2013, and grow
the chain to 500 stores by 2015.
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
A new year is always a time for
excitement and optimism. It signals
yet another fresh start and beginning.
This rings true for PR Gaz as we
welcome 2010 with a lot of new
things—exciting developments in our
organization, and in the business,
in general.
Last year provided the springboard
for our grand plans for PR Gaz. We
formulated our “500 in 5” vision and
acquired a big facility to support our
operations. The strong momentum coming
out of the previous year will propel us
even more to set our plans into motion
this year, and that we have begun doing.
I am pleased to announce that, early
this quarter, we have already reached
the century mark in terms of number of
PR Gaz Haus outlets.
One hundred stores signify that we
are reaching an even bigger market share
and we are able to serve an even greater
number of Filipino households. In terms
of our goal, in my view, this number puts
us just a stone’s throw away from our
target of 500 stores. In fact, we expect to
grow our store chain by at least 60 more
branches this year—that’s just in Metro
Manila alone.
As the year changed, so has the
visual character of our company and
product. This year, we are launching
a new PR Gaz logo.
As you may have already noticed
on the front page of this edition of our
newsletter, we have redesigned our
visual identity. The transformation is not
only to raise effective awareness of our
LPG products but also assist in
expressing our company’s mission and
philosophy to the customers. Our new
logo—the symbolism it conveys—will
also enable us to attune our competitive
strength to market demand.
Still incorporating hues of our
company’s traditional red and blue colors,
the design of our new logo introduces PR
Gaz as a well-rounded company that
promotes oneness and harmony. At the
core of the logo is a flame—symbolizing
energy, associated with intelligence and
stability, and represents our organization’s
passion and zeal.
Complementing these developments
are new marketing strategies that we will
also initiate this year.
During the last quarter of 2009, we
commissioned the creation of our brand
jingle. The final piece was previewed during
our Christmas parties. The same way a
company’s logo provides a visual
presentation of the company, our brand
jingle will provide us with the right musical
images to help listeners to the tune identify
the PR Gaz brand every time they hear it.
PR Gaz, by the way, is the very first
in the local LPG industry to have a brand
jingle—another feather in our cap. And
we’re not stopping here. A creative
application of the jingle is currently in
the works and through it, we hope to
gain a strong presence in the
communities we serve.
I am confident that 2010 will be
another banner year for PR Gaz. We
have entered the year with more
opportunities for growth. There’s no doubt
in my mind that we have the right
business strategies to secure for PR Gaz
a definitive spot in the marketplace, and
that we have demonstrated our ability to
execute it—continually building upon the
strengths and gains we’ve achieved.
Let’s all work together as a family
united in purpose, proceed steadily
at all times, and never to stop making
improvements as we work toward
our goals.
United, we can achieve so much
more.

Fairview franchise brings PR Gaz Haus chain tally to 100 outlets
PR Gaz has hit the century mark
in the total number of stores in
its Luzon–wide network with
the opening of another PR Gaz
Haus branch in Metro Manila.
The sixth PR Gaz Haus
franchise in the National Capital
Region, the newest store is
located in Fairview, Quezon City
and operated by franchisee
Elizabeth Espinola. Designated
as Fairview 1, Espinola’s
franchised outlet will service the
North Fairview and greater
Lagro areas.
An operations manager for
a machine calibration, parts
and service firm, Espinola
said that she had been
looking for a business to run
and was originally interested
in an LPG dealership. She
found the PR Gaz franchise
offering to be more attractive
and was pleased with the
quality of its products.
The Fairview branch is the
20th PR Gaz Haus store to open
in the Metro Manila area. PR
Gaz plans to put up at least 60
stores this year, and the
company intends to bring the
total number of outlets in the
chain to 500 by 2015.

PR Gaz company officials and staff
distributed bags of goodies to the
beneficiaries of the Diocese of Pasig
Immaculate Conception Cathedral Soup
Kitchen program. Gazman, the PR Gaz
mascot and a puppet show also entertained
the children during the feeding day held last
December 5. Started in 2000, the Pasig Soup
Kitchen is a volunteer program that adopts a
holistic approach in helping indigent
communities,
particularly
the
underprivileged children from areas around
the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, by
not taking care of their physical needs alone,
but their educational, spiritual, and cultural
needs as well. Most children walk to and from
their homes to the cathedral on every soup

Kaya ko ba?
ni BH - Marj
Bago ako naging Branch Head of
the Year, madami ring pagsubok
at problemang dinanas ko.
Nag-start ako ng January 25,
2005 sa PR Gaz Haus bilang
Assistant Branch Head ng
Bonuan. Naranasan ko ang hindi
pagpansin ng tao kapag magaalok ako ng produkto natin,
takot na hindi pagbubuksan ng
pinto ng tahanan o hindi
tatanggapin ‘yung flyers na
ibibigay ko. May mga panahong
pinanghihinaan na ako ng loob.
Tanong ko nga noon, “Kaya ko
pa bang gampanan ang trabaho
ko? Pero kung kaya ng iba, bakit
di ko kaya?”
Naranasan ko ding mahulog
sa motorsiklo sa pagsama ko sa
pag-deliver —at magkaroon ng
tahi ang ulo ko. “Kaya ko pa ba?
Pero nandito na ako kaya’t
ipagpapatuloy ko na.”
Nang ilipat ako sa San Fabian
branch, nakagat naman ako ng
aso. “Siguro titigil na ako, give
up na ako!” May nagsabi din na:
“’Di tatagal yang si Marj kasi
laking Maynila at ‘di sanay sa
trabaho natin!”
Sabi ko,”No I won’t give up!
Ipapakita ko na kaya ko rin ang
nakamit nila at malalagpasan
ko pa.” Kaya umulan o umaraw
naglalakad ako para magmarket—di ako tumigil ng hindi
ako nakasampung kards per day.
Nag-alok ako ng kards at
ipinaliwanag
ang
mga
benipisyong matatanggap nila
pag naging miyembro. Sa awa ng
Diyos, naging No.1 ako sa kards
at nag-umpisa ng lumaki ang
benta ko.
Noong 2006, nag-resign ang
Branch Head namin at ako ang
pansamantalang
pumalit—
panibagong hamon sa akin.
Mahirap palang humawak ng tao
lalo na ‘pag ayaw sumunod sayo.
Araw-araw ko na lang sila
pinagsasabihan—hanggang sa
nagbitiw na sila ng masasakit na
salita sa akin. Halos buwanbuwan, nagpapalit ako ng tao noon.
Natanong ko ulit,”Kaya ko pa ba?”
Kinausap ko si Sir Jonifer
Guillermo, AC namin: “Sir, give up
na ako! Di siguro ako bagay na
Branch Head dito kasi wala raw
tatagal sa akin.” Sagot niya, “Hindi
kita inilagay dyan na BH kung sa
tingin ko di mo kaya. Sila ang may
problema, ‘di ikaw. Ito ang isa-isip
mo:
araw-araw
ay
may
panibagong hamon at nasayo ang
tiwala ko. Hahanap tayo ng tao na
makakatulong sa tindahan mo.”
Ka-trabaho, pamilya at mga
kaibigan, mga naniniwala sa
kakayahan ko, ang naging sandata
ko. And thank God, by year 2007,
smooth na ang operation namin sa
6 • Februar y 2010
store, nakakuha ng mga taong
nakatulong sa pag-angat ng benta.
Ngunit matapos ang bagyong
Cosme, bumaba mula 60 to 48
average ang aming benta—1 month
‘di nag-quota. Pero imbes na
panghinaan ng loob, sinabi ko sa
team: “Wala tayong magagawa
‘pag kalikasan ang sumubok.
Tapos na ang bagyo, tayo ay
magtanim muli at tataas ulit
ang benta o malalagpasan pa.
Dating gawi—‘wag tayong
magsasawang mag-market.”
After a month, tumaas ang benta
namin at nalagpasan pang target
sales. Ito ang mga tips ko sa kanila:
team work; basic activity (database,
follow-up old customer, flyers); kards
(The more cards we have, the more
customer we get. Kahit 5,000
thousand plus na ‘yong cards namin,
‘di kami tumitigil kasi ‘di lahat ito
magiging customer namin forever.
Kapag may nawalang isa, dapat
doble ang kapalit.); at alamin
kung paano makukuha ang
tiwala at loyalty ng customer,
samahan pa ng lambing. The
rational for existence of any business
enterprise is to acquire profits by
providing satisfaction to its
customer—kaya dapat hindi tayo
magsawa sa pagma-market.
Salamat sa aking team mates:
ABH-Marlon Cerveza, RidersEdwin Ganacias at Richard
Mayugba. Sa PR GAZ family ko,
‘wag po kayong magsawa i-guide
ako palagi. To my co-branch heads,
just believe in yourselves and give
your best. Who knows mag-number
1 din kayo. And to our valued
customers dito sa San Fabian
Branch “Maraming, maraming
salamat po!”
Sigaw ng Bonuan dream team:
ni BH - Rexie Gabrillo
“Sama-sama kami!”
Noong July 2007, ako, si Hit Team Rexie
Gabrillo ang pansamantalang naging BH
ng Bonuan Branch. Kaka-take over lang
nito mula sa franchisee.
Pero ang dating franchisee ay patuloy
parin sa pag-operate gamit ang mga
tangke natin. Akala ng mga customer
natin under PR GAZ pa rin sila. Kami
naman noon ay nag-ooperate ng walang
tindahan—kumukuha lang ng stock sa
ibang store natin gamit ang tricycle,
nagro-route selling kami at nag-aantay
sa isang waiting shed. We shared stocks
with San Fabian—‘pag naubos yong
walong content balik ulit sa San Fabian
na almost 9km away from Bonuan.
Noon, kasi wala kaming store we
started at zero. We accepted the
challenge. Ang ginawa namin, we studied
how to familiarize with the area—
namigay kami ng mga flyers at binalikan
namin ang mga nakuha naming na
database for follow up.
Minsan sinita kami ng mga barangay
officials ng Bonuan—bakit daw kami
nagde-deliver sa area nila at kung saan
ang store namin. Ipinaliwanag namin na
kaka-take over lang namin ng store—from
franchise to company-owned. Minsan
pinagtatawanan kami ng mga dating
empleyado natin na in-absorb na ng dating
franchisee. Sabi nila “umuwi nalang kayo
dahil wala kayong mabebenta dito.” Pero
di kami nakinig sa kanila.
Hindi kami sumuko hanggang sa
mabuo ang Bonuan Dream Team—kami
ay sina: BH Rexie Gabrillo; ABH Lope
Juguilon; Riders Gallardo Tubera at
Exequil Serraon. Gumawa kami ng
plano: nag-start sa benta na 15 na
tangke sa maghapon at araw-araw
namimigay ng flyers at nagpapa-suki
card sa mga customer.
Hindi ito naging madali dahil hindi kami
taga Bonuan. Si Lope at Exequil ay taga
San Fabian, ako ay taga-Sta. Barbara at
si Gallardo ay taga-Mangaldan. Lahat ay
idinaan lang namin sa tiyaga at haba ng
pasensya dahil goal namin ay 50 na tangke
mabenta araw-araw. Na-achieved namin
ito at pataas pa ng pataas. God is good
talaga. Sinuklian niya ang pagtitiis namin.
Nuong bagyong Cosme, ako lang ang
nakapasok dahil sa baha. Tuwang-tuwa
ako dahil naka-50 cylinders na benta—
‘yong lahat ng nag-text pinag-walk-in ko,
mahirap mag-explain pero tiyaga at tamang
paraan ng pakikipag-usap. “Hindi
tatanggapin ng mga customers ang aking
paliwanag kung hindi din maganda ang
rapport at pakikitungo ng buong
team ng store kanila”.
Aking payo sa aking mga
kasamahan sa PR Gaz, work
as a team, give importance
to your co-employee.
Magkaroon lang ng isang
hangarin, pananaw, layunin
upang makamit ang iisang
mithiin. Be positive and keep
your determination.
